The La Costa Resort Celebrates

its Golden Anniversary This Year

2015 is the Golden Anniversary of the famed La Costa Resort and Spa in the La Costa area of South Carlsbad.

Take a slideshow tour of the La Costa area at the bottom of the page

The La Costa Carlsbad area seen from the La Costa hills looking to the oceanThe resort opened in 1965 and was originally called Rancho La Costa.

From the very beginning the La Costa Resort and Spa was a game changer - there was nothing else like it.

Even today, now known as the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa after Omni Hotels acquired the resort from KSL Partners in 2014, the resort continues to set standards as a wellness and golf resort destination, and was recently awarded #1 Wellness Spa.

The surrounding area grew quickly with lots of new housing - condos and single family homes and estates - and 7 years later in 1972 this unincorporated area was annexed by the City of Carlsbad and given it's own zip code (92009). But residents still tend to refer to the area as La Costa.

There are all sorts of stories about who lived in the area, either in privately owned homes or in rental properties, including Dustin Hoffman and Lucille Ball. According to neighborhood stories (we heard lots of them when we lived in the area for 5 years) the Rat Pack reportedly hung out here and frequented a house along the golf course area residents refer to the Rat Pack house (it was recently sold and extensively remodeled and can be yours for $1,289,000 - $1,339,000).

The Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad offers a host of amenities to make any visit special, whether for a day or a vacation - a fabulous spa, the Chopra Center, 4 dining options, 2 golf courses, upscale shopping, 8 pools and a range of rooms, suites and villas. They host a variety of sporting events during the year, are known for their popular July 4th fireworks on the golf course, and from September 10 - 13 will host the 3rd Annual La Costa Film Festival.

The Omni La Costa Resort is well worth a visit. Why not check it out during the Golden Anniversary?!
