Throwback Thursday: The Yellow Brick Road
I was touring some homes for sale for clients way back in December 2014 in Valley Center, a rural community about 30 miles inland from my home in Carlsbad, and stumbled across The Yellow Brick Road, an area I was not at all familar with.
Yes, there IS a a street by that name, along with Dorothy Lane, Wizard Way, Ozland Avenue, Emerald City Drive, and perhaps others I missed.
I don't personally know the history of the area but there is an interesting story on Hidden San Diego about the producer of the original silent film version of The Wizard of Oz who lived in the area, along with the Tin Man who had a ranch there but reportedly lost it in the Cedar Fire in 2003.
No doubt if you poke around this rural neighborhood you will find all sorts of humor provided by the residents living on these rural streets.
