Can ZILLOW and ACCURACY be Used in the Same Sentence?
I had to wonder, when I received a weekly Zillow report, if ZILLOW and ACCURACY can be used in the same sentence??!!
It appears not.
This is not about inaccuracy of their Zestimates – plenty has been written about those, and we are all aware of the issues, and Zillow’s discussion of error percentages which in some cases are significant.
My weekly Zillow report was insightful – it was about an “active” listing that was canceled, by mutual agreement, with the seller almost 6 months ago. The property was relisted with another agent at a much lower price, did not sell, and is now rented.

ACCURACY?? |
Now it appears to be mine again through some Zillow magic.
Oh, I know what happened. It replaced, mysteriously, a real listing I very much have in Oceanside.
I wonder how many other agents realize how inaccurate Zillow can also be with listings?
Do consumers know?
To be fair to Zillow, there are other portals with the same problem – I’ve seen it happen on Trulia. I had an agent's listing in Iowa show up in MY list of listings a couple of weeks ago.
But this is getting pretty tedious, as it's happened more times than I can count.
Listing reports serve a dual purpose – they let me know about activity on my listings. But perhaps more importantly, they help keep track of the inaccuracies.
Syndication can be a good thing, but things sometimes go awry – a listing you have disappears, or one you don’t have becomes yours!
Clearly we have to pay particular attention to where our listings are, and aren't, so we can fix the issue.
Just one more adminstrative task to distract us.
