On a recent visit to Lake Tahoe we took a long hike by Emerald Bay on one of the more popular hiking trails in the Lake Tahoe area (at least according to the guide books). More on that later.
It was a moderate hike, and fairly warm, so the hike up hill to Eagle Lake (a vertical rise of about 1000 feet) generated some perspiration. But the views were spectacular of the mountains, Lake Tahoe and Emerald Bay, pine trees and the falls, and more than worth the physical effort.
Taking along a camera, for me, always generates inspiration for enjoying nature and capturing views I might not have even thought about had I not had a camera - the beach, sunsets, intriguing architecture and plants are some of this things that seem to inspire photos for me.
A camera encourages me to take a moment and pay more attention to my surroundings rather than having them simply pass by, whether I am in the city, at the beach, or in the mountains or simply out taking real estate photos.
Perhaps that's true for you as well.
And often those precious photos become a source of inspiration for an article or two.
This tree, about midway up the mountain, was quite striking in the colors and shape against the deep blue sky - it simply begged to be photographed, which thankfully turned out rather well. And do you see the glimpse of the partial moon off to the right of that large branch? Purely accidental.
Taking the time to truly enjoy nature is one of the great pleasures of taking time off, getting away, and it simply does not happen often enough.
