We all know that ActiveRain is an amazing social networking venue focused on the real estate industry. With 169,296 members as I write this, ActiveRain is an incredible voice in the real estate, and social networking, world, with significant power to influence change.
Is ActiveRain helping the real estate industry? You bet it is! Here are just a few ways.
AR provides a forum for:
Real estate agents/brokers, staging professionals, mortgage brokers, inspectors, title professionals and others in the industry to share ideas and learn from each other. Consumers benefit through their own increased education, as well as benefiting from more knowledgeable real estate professionals. Learning the realities of short sales and foreclosures, and the local markets is just one example.
Greater transparency in the real estate industry so consumers, and other RE practitioners gain a better understanding of some of the truths about this business - the good, the bad and the ugly. And it encourages those who are not so obvious to be more transparent in their business practices.
Exposing wrongful things that happen in this business - mortgage fraud, unethical real estate business practices, real estate scams around short sales and rentals, unscrupulous web site providers and lead generators, and so much more.
- Will the government listen?
- Will brokerages and mortgage companies?
- Will the media?
Who knows? Some of us have had media opportunities or have gotten asked to speak publicly on various issues. So folks and bad practices are being brought to light. And the public is learning!
Encouraging and inspiring real estate practitioners to improve the way in which they do business with consumers, which benefits everyone. New training can be developed, and new technology can be used to better help consumers with their transactions and enhance communication among the parties to a transaction.
Growing our respective real estate businesses so we can better serve our buyer and seller clients. Consumers needing help can find it, either locally or in their relocations.
Providing a platform for consumers, if they choose, to participate in conversations, ask questions, obtain assistance and advice, and share their opinions (good or bad).
Indeed, I believe ActiveRain is playing an active role is helping to change the perception that many have of our industry. There is no doubt this forum provides an invaluable educational resource and vehicle for communication among real estate practitioners, and a means to influence out industry for the better.
