Labor Day has always been a curious holiday
It signaled the end of the summer, with starting back to school, although these days in our area kids are back in the academic world in mid August.
Even though summer is not officially over for a few more weeks, Labor Day remains significant as a harbinger of the fall weather - our leaves are now turning and dropping, as I expect they are in many other places.
The Labor Day holiday always screws up my week since today feels like Monday and not Tuesday. And since I'm leaving town tomorrow for personal business in Sedona and business travel to Scottsdale, my schedule is all kaflooey and I keep thinking I have more time than I do. Thank goodness for my calendar reminders for upcoming appointments.
Labor Day also typically means a shift in the real estate market from the doldrums of August. Folks are back from vacations, kids are back in school, and house hunters seem to be kicking back into gear with the hope of success before the holiday season starts in late November. And some sellers are now ready to get going since the holiday has passed (I have 2 coming up).We are already seeing more activity but perhaps it's just busy-ness. Time will tell.
As Sheldon Neal so aptly pointed out in his post Today is The "Unofficial End of Summer," Labor Day means we still have about 1/3 of the year to drum up and close business. So what are you up to in order to make the last 1/3 of the year successful?
Among other things I am working on a new blog - more on that when it's ready to launch.
Labor Day, or the day after, also traditionally means my summer beach photo is put away until next year. Just in case you're wondering why the change...or care.
Of course here in SoCal that look works year round.
Hopefully everyone had a safe and pleasant holiday! We have a stretch until the next big one in November so get a move on your business.
