Buyers interested in acquiring waterfront homes in Solana Beach California have a number of options.

The Solana Beach real estate market is one of the more expensive, on average, of the coastal communities. Unlike Del Mar, to the south, and Oceanside further north, all of the Solana Beach waterfront homes are on the bluffs overlooking the ocean rather than at sea level, much like Encinitas and Carlsbad.
Buyers can choose from both attached (condos) and a few detached waterfront homes, depending on price range. There are also some new construction waterfront homes to choose from as well. The inventory tends to be rather limited, especially for detached homes on the ocean. The majority of the waterfront condos in Solana Beach are clustered along the south end of S. Sierra Avenue

The waterfront homes in Solana Beach are close to the downtown area (some within walking distance) and the Cedros Design District.
Currently there are 2 Solana Beach waterfront homes on the market (detached homes), priced at $1.995 million (a 2 bedroom 2 bath home of 1382 SF) and a 3407 SF home with 4 bedrooms and 3.4 baths for $5.25 million.
Buyers who are interested in a waterfront condo have more choices, and better prices, since there are a number of condo complexes along Sierra Avenue that offer both oceanfront and less expensive units (some with views) that are near the beach but not direct frontage.
As of this writing there are 18 waterfront condos to select from in Solana Beach, ranging in price from $880,000 for a 1 bedroom 2 bath unit up to $1.995 million.
Be aware that with waterfront property, especially on the fragile bluffs, erosion can be an issue, and you will want to thoroughly investigate the property so you understand what you are buying. Gaining approval to build a seawall if needed, for example, can be difficult and expensive.
