What’s Going on Near Calavera Hills?
Calavera Hills is located near many amenities in Carlsbad Village (shopping, restaurants, services, the Coaster and Amtrack, ourdoor fairs and festivals). The larger city of Oceanside is just to the north, offering a huge assortment of shopping, dining and services.
The Carlsbad beaches are about 15-20 minutes to the west, depending on time of day and your route. Calavera Hills residents can enjoy golf at the La Costa Resort and Spa and the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, and the more recently built public golf course at The Crossings. There is also a public golf course just a mile away at Rancho Carlsbad.
Shopping in multiple strip malls is plentiful along El Camino Real in South Carlsbad and Encinitas, about 15 - 20 minutes south, and along the 78 freeway just a few minutes to the north.
Hiking enthusiasts will enjoy Mt. Calavera, easily seen from a number of homes in Calavera Hills, or the trails around Lake Calavera close-by.
Children who live in Calavera Hills will attend the top-rated Carlsbad Unified School District. The new Sage Creek High School opening in the Fall of 2013, is right down the street but students will have the option of which high school they can attend.
