Carlsbad Art Wall Mural in Carlsbad Village
New Mural January 2018
The Carlsbad Art Wall now has a new mural, painted this past Friday and Saturday, January 19th and 20th. In case you are not familiar with this changing wall art, you’ll find it on the east-facing wall at Senor Grubby's, a popular Mexican Restaurant in Carlsbad Village on Carlsbad village Drive just west of the train tracks.
This colorful mural was painted by Sarah Spinks, a Vista tattoo artist, and obviously a wall muralist as well! Sarah is President and Founder of the Backfence Society, a non-profit “dedicated to positive community engagement through art.” She also chairs the City of Vista Public Arts Commission.
Carlsbad artist, Bryan Snyder, is the brainchild behind the Carlsbad Art Wall (CAW), created in cooperation with the owner of Senor Grubby’s Mexican Restaurant in the heart of the Village, easily visible as you head toward the beach on Carlsbad Village Drive – look to the left just past the rail road tracks.
Carlsbad is known as a growing and changing arts community, with loads of public art, and the Carlsbad Art Wall is a wonderful addition to our expanding arts community. And the bonus is it changes several times per year!
Here are some recent Carlsbad Art Wall murals I enjoyed:
It's always fun to see what each artist creates, and locals often hang out to watch the artists at work. It’s cool that the wall art is up for a few months, giving residents and visitors plenty of time to enjoy these very special, and fleeting, public art creations.
