Top Choice Fish Market and Eatery in Carlsbad CA
Ever since Fish House Vera Cruz closed their restaurant and fish market in Carlsbad Village last year I’ve missed the convenience of their fresh fish for grilling at home.
Yeah, the local supermarkets have fish but it's not all that great, specilly if you are a big seafood fan as I am, and so often it’s frozen and farm raised. Fish House Vera Cruz has a place in San Marcos but it’s a bit of a hike unless I am out that way showing homes. The Seaside Market in Cardiff had a great, but expensive, fish counter, but again too far. I like Pelly’s in South Carlsbad but it’s out of the way unless I’m down there along the coast showing properties. The sme is true for the fish counter at Gelson's in La Costa.
Top Choice Fish Market and Eatery now fits the bill pretty well, although it’s further than our drive into Carlsbad Village. I stopped by today to check it out and buy some white sea bass for the grill. The fish looked really fresh (they say it is) and the prices were what you would expect for a top quality fresh fish market – not cheap, but expected. There was lots of variety too.
The Eatery is small with a little room to sit outside, too. You can eat your meal in, or take it to go the way you want – grilled, fried, steam, sautéed, and smoked. You can order salads, plate, sandwiches, chowder and more. They offer beer and wine, too!
Top Choice Fish is owned and operated by Tip Top Meats next door – you can’t miss the bright blue awnings!
