Housing Extremes in the San Diego Real Estate Market
There are some interesting extremes in the San Diego real estate market. Sometimes you can't help but wonder about them.
The range of pricing, especially on the beach?
Why does someone have a home that large?
Why is a home not selling and sitting on the market for so long...years, in fact?
I took a look at some of the extremes for condos and detached single family homes listed for sale and pass them along for fun.
* * * * *
Longest DOM (Days on Market) - 2141. That's almost 6 years.
Smallest Home - 268 SF
Largest Home - 16,281 SF (but see below for a more impressive home in Mumbai)
Most Expensive Listing on the market - $61 million (this WAS $76 million). That's nothing compared to a few other homes on the market in the US over $100M. And then there's that home built in Mumbai by a billionaire, valued at about $1B with 27 floors and 400,000 SF.
Least Expensive Listing - $29K (but you can get a mobile home or cabin for less)
Most Expensive Sale - $48,150,000 (beach front in Del Mar) on the Sandicor MLS
Least Expensive Sale in last 5 years - $2K for a 1/1 544 SF home
Most Bedrooms (excluding guesthouse[s]) - 12
Most Bathrooms - 11 (that's 11 FULL baths). And there was a 9 full / 5 half bath listing.
Oldest Home on the Market - this is tough because sometimes the public record and the listings differ. But it appears that there are several homes that have been for sale that were built in the last 1880s and 1890s. That's nothing, when I recall being in Boston, but for Southern California this is OLD.
Any extremes in YOUR marketplace?
