Carlsbad Art in the Village Fair 2010

The day was spectacular and perfect for taking in the sights at the annual Carlsbad Art in the Village Fair in downtown Carlsbad.
Parking, as expected, was a bit of a challenge but we got within a couple of blocks of all the action.
After a stroll down one street we stopped in at our favorite gallery, the Ivanffy-Uhler Gallery on Grand near the center of the action to talk with owner Paul Uhler, check out some new paintings, and listen to the Irish band playing outside.
[Here I am checking out the art in while wearing good friend Irina Netchaev's Pasadena Views t-shirt - click the photo to check out her site - it's terrific.]
BTW the next opening at the Ivanffy-Gallery will be on Thursday August 26 from 5:30 until 8:30 featuring artist Susan Weller.
I'm estimating there were about 100 vendors or so with a wide range of creations - paintings, jewelry, sculpture and much more. Big enough for plenty of variety but not so big that you couldn't take it all in within an hour or two.
We had great fun meeting and talking with street artist Jason Mernick, who creates fine metal art in copper, stainless, brass and aluminum.
There were several pieces we really liked and so we ended up acquiring a large round piece that is now hanging on the back fence in our yard where we can enjoy it from indoors or out.
This annual event of well worth a visit if you have any interest at all in art, or simply to take in the sights and sounds in downtown Carlsbad Village. The next art event is ArtSplash, coming our way September 25 and 26 on Armada Drive behind the Flower fields.
