Steps to the Beach in Carlsbad and Encinitas CA
Steps to the beach implies more than you might think.
Of course it usually means that you are living close to the ocean edge. MLS listings often note that as a plug for the home in question. How far that is varies depending on the agent's perspective. Guess I tend to think of this as equating to 2-3 minutes walk at most. Not a 10 minute stroll.
Distance is in the eyes of the beholder. So if this is important to you when you are going to purchase a home, be sure to do your due diligence and check. The actual steps to the beach may be further than you think.
But steps to the beach in my area carries some other significance as well, as these photos will attest.
- There may be real steps to the beach. Sometimes quite significant steps. And somehow they are always tougher on the way up. Interesting how that works.
- The steps may no longer exist due to erosion.
- The pathway may be very steep, even treacherous, as you find at the bluffs in La Jolla going to Black's Beach as one example
- You may simply be able to walk out on to the beach with few or no steps at all. Makes it easy, but increases the likelihood of erosion issues.
- And folks with disabilities or who need a walker, can, crutches or a wheelchair can sometimes get right on the beach with improved access with pathways and heavy mats (Moonlight Beach in Encinitas being a prime example).
