This Road Runner showed up on the back fence of our yard here in Carlsbad this afternoon.
I always think of the Road Runner as being a desert bird, as we often have seen them in the California desert on our visits. And I think fondly of my fave cartoon character from many years ago. Guess I still enjoy the Road Runner winning out over Wile E. Coyote.
This fellow hung around for quite a while, took some time to preen himmself (or herself?) before hopping down and running across the cul-de-sac to the neighbor's house.
