Press a Button and the Elevator Tells YOU Where to Go
I'm at the Marriott in New Orleans for the Fall meetings of the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS) this week. Cool place to be but not much time to enjoy the sights.
The elevators here are pretty sassy. You press a button and the elevator tells you where to go. Not in the literal sense...LOL.
You enter your floor number on the keypad and the system will tell you which of the 7 elevators (A through G) will be yours.
That elevator arrives, you get on, and it takes you to your floor. No buttons to push, no thinking, and unless it is crowded and that particular elevators is going to more than 1 floor, there's no stopping on the way.
You do have to make sure you take the right elevator because you can't change floors on root - no buttons, remember? It's been fun watching people get on and say "please press # X for me" or "Where's the button?" The system works well, and the elevators are pretty fast. There are a lot of people going up and down and I have never had to wait more than about 15 or 20 seconds.
At least that's one less hassle to worry about at a crowded convention hotel. We won't get into the wireless issues. L
