Lowe’s is coming to Carlsbad.
At least at this time that seems to be the case since the development company has secured the financing to develop the property known as Palomar Airport Commons in Carlsbad, with the plans to include other stores on the site.
The site, formerly the Olympic Resort Hotel and Spa, has been vacant for some time and rather an eyesore. Access to Lowe’s and Palomar Airport Common will be good given the location, off 2 major roads – Palomar Airport Road and directly off of El Camino Real. Palomar Airport Commons will supposedly also offer a gas station (excellent news since there isn’t one for miles along El Camino) and convenience store.
No doubt there will be some controversy about Lowe’s and the retail center being located here.
My understanding is that BOA has provided the funding for this 184,000 SF Palomar Airport Commons shopping center.
Stay tuned for more news as this project moves forward. Palomar Airport Commons is due to open in 2012.
