Shout Out for a Great Real Estate Photographer: Scott Basile - And Some Great Learnings, too
I first met photographer Scott Basile several years ago when I organized a free educational session for the San Diego members of the Southern California Chapter of CRS (Certified Residential Specialists) in 2009. He came highly recommended to me (I put out a tweet on Twitter), although I can't recall who referred him. Anyhow, it was a great session, with lots of tips on how to improve our real estate photography. Scott is easy to talk with, had good examples of do's and don'ts, and made it all seem so easy.
A copy of my notes is below - feel free to print out or download, as you are sure to pick up a few tips that can help you with your real estate photos.
Of course, while these tips are helpful, it's even better to use a professional photographer for certain of your listings (trust me when you look at the photos below - mine and Scott's - it's obvious, but Scott's are on the right), and so when I planned to bring my latest Carlsbad home for sale on the market earlier this week, I called Scott immediately before going live.
The photo shoot took perhaps an hour. Scott knew all the right angles, how to play with the light (his own, plus natural and other) and made it all so easy. Less than 24 hours later I had all my photos PLUS a great virtual tour, both branded and unbranded. And the prices are terrific.
