I met a number of interesting businesses while I was there, in addition to sharing information about what our consortium does.

Carlsbad Seniors Center - The Center of Activity in Carlsbad Village

Carlsbad Seniors CenterCarlsbad has a long and positive reputation as a retirement community, as a result of the weather, amenities, golf and other outdoor activities, and its beaches.

Carlsbad also has a number of 55+ communities as well as seniors apartments that cater to the burgeoning seniors populations. A center of activity in Carlsbad Village is the Carlsbad Seniors Center.

 

 

 

Courtyard at the Carlsbad Seniors CenterLocated at 799 Pine Avenue just a few blocks from the heart of the village, the Seniors center provides a multitude of activities for seniors. There is ample parking for those who drive, but the center also provides transportation for folks who cannot get around on their own or do not own a car. Hours of the center are 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday.

The activities that are available are pretty impressive, and certainly what one would hope to see in any good sized community with a seniors population.

  • Activities at the center itself include yoga (multiple levels) , line dancing, computer classes, Spanish, International folk dancing, a writer’s club, body conditioning and balance and mobility classes, tai chi, a reading group, bingo, chess, needlecraft, massage therapy, pinochle, Hawaiian dance, self awareness, ballroom dancing, watercolor classes, low impact aerobics, Middle Eastern dance, nutrition planning, a stamp club, crafts club, bridge, jazz and tap dancing, scrabble and more.
  • Senior Safari Excursions occur monthly and include a range of sites – Newport Beach, train trips (LA to San Luis Obispo), visits to Griffith Park Observatory, the San Diego Natural History Museum, shopping and gambling at local casinos such as Viejas.
