If the temps get a bit toasty for you, you can chill out in a cool zone in Carlsbad California.
Carlsbad has done it again by providing services that meet the needs of its residents, in particular those who have health problems that may be aggravated by heat.

Now, granted our heat in Carlsbad does not approach the stifling temps you get in the California desert (well above 100) or in Arizona (it was 110 when I was in Scottsdale last week). But we can get temperatures in the low 90s during the hottest periods which can occur in September and October, especially when the Santa Ana winds blow.
And as folks may know, the Santa Anas have a reputation for also causing devastating wildfires, as happened in October 2007 here in San Diego.

So if you need to chill out in a cool zone in Carlsbad California head for:
- The Carlsbad City Library at 1775 Dove Lane in South Carlsbad (and why not visit the Cannon Art Gallery next door, too - it's also has AC). Hours are 9 am until 9 pm Monday through Thursday, 9 to 5 on Friday and Saturday, and 1 to 5 on Sundays. (760) 602-2049
- Carlsbad Senior Center - 799 Pine Avenue in Carlsbad Village. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8 until 5:30 pm, and on Friday from 8 until 5 pm. (760) 602-4650.
