There are a number of small and medium-sized La Costa condo complexes in this area on the hills just east of the golf course with a range of styles and prices. La Costa condos n this area were built primarily in the 19702 and 1980s, but don’t let that keep you away – many have been updated, and they often offer styles that are multilevel and architecturally more interesting than new units, which are very hard to find anyhow.

Colina de la Costa, Plaza de Las Flores, Plaza Bonita, Plaza de La Costa and La Costa Del Sol are just a few of the smallish complexes in this area.

Many of these La Costa condos for sale will be short sales and foreclosures (REOs) but there are some excellent opportunities – many of the La Costa condos in this area that sold in 2006 were priced in the high $300s and low to mid $400s!

Right now, for example, there are 5 La Costa condos for sale in the area along and near Alicante for under $275K, all 2 bedroom.

Women’s Professional Tennis Returns to La Costa Carlsbad in July 2011 

The famed La Costa Resort and Spa will once again host atop-notch WTA tournament when the Mercury Insurance Women’s Tennis Tournament returns to LA Costa July 30^th  through August 7^th. 

The La Costa Resort and Spa is a beautiful setting for tennis and having world ranked players makes it that much more special. 

Tickets tend to sell out fast from what I have seen in the past, especially for later in the week, so order your Ticket Packages or individual tickets on-line now.

Alga Norte Community Park in Carlsbad

A new park, Alga Norte Community, is well under construction in South Carlsbad at the intersection of Poinsettia and Alicante in the heart of La Costa Greens and near Bressi Ranch. 

Alga Norte Community Park has been under development and discussion for many years prior to approval but as the photos show, it is moving along rather well - this is clearly a multi-year project.

I show property in this area of La Costa regularly (the homes on the hills are in SolTerra, a small village of 38 homes in La Costa Greens)and it's been fun to watch the groundbreaking and the park beginning to form. 

Carlsbad's Alga Norte Community Park is ambitious, with a wide array of services and facilities to address the needs of residents in this densely populated area near the coast. 

The 32-acre Alga Norte Community Park facilities are impressive, and extensive:

• a Dog Park (with separate areas for large and small dogs)
• softball/baseball fields
• several basketball half courts
• picnic areas
• batting cages
• playground
• an Aquatic Center (with instruction pool, competition pool, warm water therapy pools and locker rooms)
• Skate Park (15,000 with elements and challenges for beginners as well as those who are more skilled). 

We have a ways to go before this will be completed. While the ground has been cleared and prepared, (the photo above was taken last summer) right at the moment it is a field of flowers and weeds. I'll keep you posted on the progress.

The model homes at CopperWood, a new construction development in La Costa Oaks in Carlsbad are being released. This development has almost completely sold out, at prices in the $800s up to about $1.2 million, with a number of homes with fabulous distant ocean, lagoon and nearby canyon views.

There are 3 CopperWood models (they are beautiful!!) that will be released on or about November 3 with pricing to be determined and announced around October 30th. Given the lot sizes and views (canyon and ocean), especially from the one fronting the canyon, I would expect in the $1.1 - $1.2 range with the upgrades and landscaping. 

BUT you still have options for other new construction homes. 

There are several new CopperWood homes at La Costa Oaks currently under construction in the final phases still available all under $1 million; some under $900K and in the low $800s. One in particular is my favorite - a front-on canyon and ocean view Plan 2 home with 3511 SF, a 6000+ SF lot, 4.5 baths and 4 bedrooms plus media room and great room, price at $970,990. Buyers will have flooring options, and the closing time will be short - give me a call and we'll take a look!

Enjoy "Spa Under the Stars" at the La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad

Going to a spa, for many folks, is a popular thing to do. And it's easy, here in the San Diego area, as there are seemingly a zillion to choose from.

Buyers looking for Carlsbad ocean view homes have a number of options, but it's rare these days to find new construction. And of course most ocean view homes, due to proximity to the ocean, are well into the 6 or 7 figures.

La Costa - A Great Residential Community in South Carlsbad 

The ocean view homes at CopperWood in La Costa, despite being several miles inland, have spectacular 180-degree views of the La Costa preserve and canyon, the Batiquitos Lagoon, and the ocean from atop one of the highest points in La Costa. 

Currently there are only 4 remaining CopperWood homes for sale along the ridge facing the ocean - none of the other homes being built in the final phases at CopperWood will have views. 

Carlsbad ocean view CopperWood Homes for Sale: 

• Plan 1 with 3438 SF 5/4, priced at $997,990
• Plan 2 with 3511 SF, 4/4.5, priced at $1.031,990

La Costa Resort Villas - Condominium Townhomes

The name La Costa, for many, conjures up images of golf, tennis, resort living by a pool, a fanciful spa. And why not? 

The La Costa Resort and Spa was the first full service resort spa in the US, created back in the late 60s with the development of its famous golf course in South Carlsbad just minutes from the beach - a playground for the celebs from Hollywood, including the Rat Pack, and others with the time and money to spend luxuriating at the spa after a round of golf.

La Costa - A Great Neighborhood in Carlsbad, CA

While La Costa remains, for many, a destination resort, and famous golfers and tennis players abound at various times of the year, the resort is also known for its popular La Costa Resort Villas, built beginning in 2004 with Phase 1. Several phases have been built since, and no new construction is formally planned from what I have heard due to the economy. There are a number of resale La Costa Resort Villas available, however, which afford the buyers excellent second home and investment opportunities. 

The La Costa Resort Villas are luxurious, fully furnished turn-key units, like checking into a 5-star hotel suite. They are unique in that owners may only use them for 120 days out of the year (while they are wholly owned condos you cannot live in them year-round as they are on commercial property). 

The plus is that they are rentals for the remainder of the year (owners can rent themselves but most, I understand, participate in the La Costa Resort rental program for a percentage of the rent), allowing for a fabulous second home at a world class resort plus the bonus of rental income, which can be substantial for some units. 

The La Costa Resort Villas range in size from about 575 SF up to over 2500 SF, with studio units plus 1 to 3 bedrooms and up to 4 baths. Views vary by unit, from courtyard, to pool, to ocean, and all units have either patios or balconies to enjoy the Southern California lifestyle. 

Current prices of the La Costa Resort Villas range from about $550,000 to $1.25 million. There are substantial HOA fees (which include electricity, cable and hot water in addition to the traditional maintenance and landscaping) but one also must consider the amenities - excellent dining, golf, shopping, the famed spa. In some cases a sports membership is included in the sale which allows for special discounts at the resort for all the amenities.

Carlsbad Homes for Sale - New Construction Homes at SolTerra in La Costa Greens are Selling FAST! 

This isn't a headline designed only to impress, but one intended to provide a feel for what is going on in the Carlsbad real estate market, especially with new construction homes.

Build Your Carlsbad Dream Home on this View Lot in La Costa, Carlsbad 92009

No, this is not my listing but I wanted to share it since I was impressed with the views and location.

I was out touring homes and drove through the La Costa Hills to take some photos. I happened to drive by this view lot for sale and thought it was a terrific place to build a home.

There are few buildable lots in coastal Carlsbad and this is one of 2 I have seen that has wonderful views of the ocean, and the mountains, as well as the La Costa neighborhood facing northwest.

The lot is located on one of the highest points in la Costa and offers buildable space of about .71 acres for $900,000 to $1.1 million. Of course one wants to verify what you can do with the lot per the City of Carlsbad.

But when you consider the estate homes in the area (typically priced in the mid $1 millions and up), well you can imagine what you could do here to capture those views.
