Don't we all have those small fix-it chores that need to be done but just don't have the time, or perhaps the skills, to take care of them?
More importantly - what about seniors, who may physically be unable to keep up with the basic maintenance issues of homeownership or have safety concerns, but who wish to remain in their homes?
Then there are those senior home owners who want to sell their homes and need to get minor repairs taken care of to maximize the showing appeal.
There is a terrific solution in the North San Diego County area
SENIOR'S CHOICE, founded by Caryn Leventhal and Leon Horn, provides a range of professional handyman services to assist seniors with their repair and maintenance needs or preparing their homes for sale. Senior's Choice will assist other home owners with handyman services, but their specialty is the senior population, which is substantial in North County San Diego especially in Carlsbad, San Marcos, Vista and Oceanside.
Services are broad reaching and fulfill many senior home owner safety and repair needs. Here is just a sampling:
- Installation of grab bars, ramps and other safety equipment
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- General home repairs
- Window, door and lock installation
- Painting and drywall
- Shelving and storage
Senior's Choice also provides emergency services, on-call 24/7, when that sink gets clogged over the weekend.
And they will provide a free estimate of work and in-home safety evaluation. Visit their website at Seniors Choice Handyman or call (760) 518-1836 for more information, questions or to request services. Senior's Choice Handyman Services is fully insured for your protection.

Nice service to be available for seniors Jeff !
Way to bring them to the spotlight :o)
Cheers !
Sheldon :o)
What a great service for Seniors. I'm guessing you have a good number of seniors enjoying your beautiful lifestyle and weather. Do you have your SRES? When I was in LA we had a company called "Gentle Transitions" who helped Seniors downsize and move. They might service your area too just in case you need a resource. Seniors need honest, caring representation like you provide for all of your clients!
Jeff, this is an excellent idea to provide this information in a post, finding good handymen is not easy.
It is always great to have good contractors you know you can trust. Good job spotlighting these guys Jeff.
Thanks, Sheldon - and yes, there is a subsantial populaton of seniors here, so this sort of service. among others, is a great thing to have.
Diane - I have heard of them but not sure of the service area - will haev to check inti this. And yes, I do have my SRES. Plus I am part of a newly formed seniors consortium of service providers - more on that in a separate post soon.
George - that's for sure. I have had good and bad experiences.
Bill - agreed. And I now know the owner personally, plus they come very highly recommended from other seniors service providers.
Jeff
Another great idea. I went backward... I just came from your post about the art crawl =) This is a program that should be found in every city in the nation! To be honest, I think churches should be stepping in and picking up the slack too!
