If the temps get a bit toasty for you, you can chill out in a cool zone in Carlsbad California.
Carlsbad has done it again by providing services that meet the needs of its residents, in particular those who have health problems that may be aggravated by heat.

Now, granted our heat in Carlsbad does not approach the stifling temps you get in the California desert (well above 100) or in Arizona (it was 110 when I was in Scottsdale last week). But we can get temperatures in the low 90s during the hottest periods which can occur in September and October, especially when the Santa Ana winds blow.
And as folks may know, the Santa Anas have a reputation for also causing devastating wildfires, as happened in October 2007 here in San Diego.

So if you need to chill out in a cool zone in Carlsbad California head for:
- The Carlsbad City Library at 1775 Dove Lane in South Carlsbad (and why not visit the Cannon Art Gallery next door, too - it's also has AC). Hours are 9 am until 9 pm Monday through Thursday, 9 to 5 on Friday and Saturday, and 1 to 5 on Sundays. (760) 602-2049
- Carlsbad Senior Center - 799 Pine Avenue in Carlsbad Village. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8 until 5:30 pm, and on Friday from 8 until 5 pm. (760) 602-4650.

We all need to aware of the people at risk during the summer months. Good suggestions for keeping cool.
Jeff, Love this post and recognizing the effects of the heat. This would be a good challenge for all us. Finding the "cool'' spots in our areas.
Jeff
Libraries are a wonderful source of fun, and their air conditioners work great.
Jeff, my favorite is hanging out in the super market by the freezer section, it always works for me ....... LOL
Hi Jeff, The coolest place I can think of ( and we have had temps in the mid to high 90's where I live) is the movie theater. Regretfully that is only for a couple hours and also one needs to want to see a current movie that may be a real stretch to appeal to ones interests. Actually , come to think of it, the library would work better :-). Why didn't I buy a home with a pool? I can certainly still do real estate with a floating phone ,floating chair and wi-fi. Now that gives working in a suit a whole new meaning.
Jeff, I didn't know where you were going but the Library is one of my favorite places! It hasn't been a terribly hot summer, but I'm looking forward to fall.
