Carlsbad has shown itself once again to be outstanding destination art town with Art Splash Carlsbad 2009.

This was another winning art event, with another day to enjoy tomorrow, Sunday September 27.
A highlight, of course is the street chalk art by dozens of artists, which was process today with the judging tomorrow. There was also a family area where visitors could create their chalk art works of art on the road.

Scott Wade, the Dirty Car Artist, was there in the midst of creating wonderful piece on the driver's window, with the other side of the car already completed (see the slide show).

As in the past there were several sand artists assembling their sand masterpieces with great care, as well as a myriad of other artists displaying their creations in all sorts of mediums - oil, watercolor, glass, steel, and on and on.

I could go on and on but the photos say it best. Enjoy.
And if you are in or near Carlsbad, Art Splash continues tomorrow on Armada Drive off Palomar Airport Road above the Flower Fields with views of the ocean. Sublime!

Jeff
Lots of major talent by you. I like the car.
Joan - it's true. There is a lot here to enjoy in the arts. I keep discovering things myself.
Thanks, Lloyd - I was a bit pressed for time so could not spend as much time watching and enjoying as I would have liked.
Sheldon - yep, the chain saw pieces were fascinating. The guy cuts a mean piece of wood. Thank for visiting.
William - well it's on today too so you don't HAVE to miss it.
janeAnne - glad you stopped by to enjoy it!
Hannah - it was fun, but I only had about 20 minutes between appointments. And no time today.
Tom - the car was VERY cool. It was fun watching him work on his creation. He is getting quite a reputation. But, like sand art at the beach, it doesn't last.

Jeff, what a great post with terrific artists! I'd LOVE to go to a show like that. We have chain saw artists here too and they are always fascinating. If I could ever do art on a car like in this post, there's no way I could stand for it to be washed away!! Thanks, from someone who can't draw a stick man!
