San Diego Spring Home/Garden Show will be at the Del Mar Fairgrounds
March 5th through the 7th, 2010
Just because the San Diego weather is milder and less wintry than many other parts of the country doesn't mean you can't get excited about spring and the San Diego Spring Home/Garden Show.
Now who doesn't like a home and garden show?
It can be so much fun to see all the flower and garden exhibits and dream about what your yard could look like. Or, if you are thinking of spiffing up or remodeling your home, whether you are planning to move or not, you can explore the many products, services, home furnishings and exhibits at the San Diego Home/Garden Show.

You can also Ask the Experts if you have particular questions about building permits, for example. And there will be a large display of art work.
The San Diego Home/Garden Show is being held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar California beginning tomorrow, Friday March 5, through Sunday March 7. There is a large list of exhibitors (the list contains links to many of the vendor websites).
Hours are 11 - 6 on Friday, 10 - 6 on Saturday, and 10 - 5 on Sunday. You can buy tickets on-line - regular admission is $8 but e-tickets are only $6. Admission after 3 PM is $5.

One of the best things about living near a large metropolitan area is the access to shows and events. This looks like a great one!
Vicki - yep. We were there in the past - it was terrific. There are lots of opportunities for folks for their gardens adn their homes.
Jeff
I think I might just take advantage of the show and drop down and see it with my wife.
Fabulous service for locals who will, no doubt, be searching Google for the show.
Posting these local announcements for consumers is the soul of Localism.
Jeff garden shows are usually a big hit even here in the East, especially after the winter we have had.
Sounds like fun. It would be great to visit San Diego.
Jeff:
It sounds like there is much more to this show than just the flowers. "Ask the Experts" would come in handy right now as we start to plan our spring gardens.
It's good to know that you are enthusiastic about the spring even though you have not had to deal with snow...
Jeff,
We had the pleasure of visiting San Diego for the first time in September and loved it. Wish we were there right now! Winters in New England can be a bit long! Enjoy the flower show!
Marianne
San Diego is on my list of places I'd like to visit - hope to get there one day - sounds great!
I love these kinds of shows. Flowers make me happy. I can remember years ago going to the Tulip Festival in the Skagit Valley in Washington. Very good recommendation you are making.
I hear there may be a lot of tomato-related stuff there as well--being that tomatoes (and the lack of flavorful ones) seem to be a hot topic in the news!
Jeff, as usual, great local content. I love the picture! You and Lenn have treated me to pictures of beautiful flowers this week!
Lenn - and find it they will. Page 1 #2 on Google
Jennifer - I always loved the spring garden shows in Boston, especially when there was still snow on the ground.
Joseph - and you should
Jeff
Claudette - agreed. I was impressed they included this - there will be folks from the bulding department to answer permit questions, among other issues.
Jeff
Jeff, Thanks for your insiration on this post. Our Home Show is next weekend and I thought what a great post for Localism as Lenn mentioned. Enjoy the show.
Hi Jeff, This particular show is one of all time favorites. The Spring Home Show. I think this will be the first year I have missed in the many years the show has been running. It is particularly good for those in real estate who offer guidance to home owners on new trends, products and services.
Hi Jeff. That's a good deal on the tickets. In Chicago we're having the Flower & Garden show at McCormick Place. The tickets are $15 plus you have to pay to park, too pricey. I am going to go walk around the local greenhouses instead.
Marianne - oh I remember those winters all too well.
Pam - come on out!
Joe - agreed. Even if you don't buy anything, what a fun thing to do and enjoy the beauty of the garden displyas. RIght now it is gray and ugly so the flowers would be a special treat.
Melissa - I wouldn't be surprised.
Jeff
After our record snowfalls this year, a trip to your area to see a flower show sounds good right now.
Yay let the Garden Shows begin. I know if I make to the first garden show I have survived. I can't wait till my buttercups blooms. Spring count me in.

I lived in San Diego between 1993 and 2002 and would go to the Del Mar Garden Show every year when I lived there. It was always so enjoyable. I can't wait until my spring bulbs start to rear their heads in the soil. It has been a long winter here on the East Coast so some Spring color is long over due !
