Carlsbad Real Estate News and Views: Southern California Vegetation | A Study in Contrasts

Here's the REAL scoop on living in Carlsbad ~ beaches, things to do, places to eat, community events, and of course neighborhoods, homes and the Carlsbad real estate market in general, including surrounding communities like Encinitas, Cardiff, San Marcos, Oceanside, Solana Beach and Del Mar.

Southern California Vegetation | A Study in Contrasts

Tiny groundcover closeup

Vegetation in Southern California covers an amazing array of contrasts in color, size, greenery and flowers. It can be very tropical, or from the desert. We see plants more commonly seen in colder climates, and a few things aren't found too many other places, like the Torrey Pine.

One of my seller clients has a goregous garden, which is, itself, a study of contrasts. I love the simplicity of the tiny groundcover which is, literally, 5 feet from a huge sago palm (not a real palm).

Beauty to behold.

[Note - I have tried repeatedly to upload the contrasting photo but the dreaded proxy error and bad gateway keep appearing. I have edited the photo a couple of times, and tried several different ones but AR refuses to allow it. I give up, for now]

Jeff, that is simple beauty to behold.  I don't think that I have ever seen that type of ground cover before.

Hi Jeff ~ Love this lush green groundcover! Here it's been so dry that even the groundcover is dying. We need a rain dance!

Hi Jeff, this plant is called ( I Think) Baby Tears. I haven't had any proxy or bad gateway errors  but the site has slowed a lot . One think you could try Jeff is up load all the photos into picnik.com and re-size them to no larger than 800x600 max. Save them individually and try that. Also use a unique name for each one  like a series 1,2,3 etc. Se if that works. The bad gateways show up when the size of the photo exceeds 800x 600. Now that I reduce the size and save as a unique name so I can keep the photos separated from the original larger photo, it works .
