It's coming to you live in just 1 week!
It's the Carlsbad Village Faire, the largest outdoor street fair in the country, and it's being held next Sunday, November 4, 2007 on the streets in downtown Carlsbad Village from 8 AM until 4 PM., and centered around Grand Avenue. (photo at left from Carlsbad Village Faire page on Chamber of Commerce website)
This is an amazing event, and just one of many outdoor events that Carlsbad offers (I previously wrote about ArtSplash). There will be over 900 exhibitors, which is mind-boggling in itself. Lots of arts and crafts, a pancake breakfast, games and rides, a beer garden, and so much more.
Even if you don't buy anything, the array of shopping opportunities is astounding - household goods, jewelry, artwork in just about every form and style imaginable, furniture, things for your garden, and so much more.
Because the Carlsbad Village Faire is so large, and there are a couple hundred thousand folks expected, parking in the area is very limited and visitors are encouraged to park at the Poinsettia Coaster Station (or just take the Coaster train and no need to drive!) or at Westfield Plaza where ccomplimentary shuttles will get you to and from the faire for free!
Because of the fires we may still have some "less than perfect" air quality, but the weather at this time of year is typically wonderful, so come by and start your holiday shopping. It's a great outing for kids, too!

Thanks, Diane. It should be fun (I hope to grab an hour ot two to stop by). I went last year but only got one or two pics before my camera died. These are other fairs like this in the area, too, but this one is HUGE!!
Jeff
George - there were a number of them back in Boston and in some of the smaller towns. This one BECOMES a town. The number of people is staggering. Thanks for coming by to visit.
Jeff
Thank, Linda. I hope it will help to distract people. We have a Chargers game today and there is other stuff that will be happening. So many things were canceled this week - it is good that SOME things are returning to normal. It will be such a long road for so many people here to recover.
Jeff
Marlene - It's a pretty amazing event - artsplash does not even compare. Call me if you come down - I should be back home from LA. What is amazing is that they have another of these in May each year too, and this has been an event since around 1981!
Jeff
Hi Jeff,
I think that one of the things that people can do to help your area rebound is visit, shop and spend money to help the communities get back on their feet. Continue to post the events and things to do and invite everyone to support your communities. I know I will when the opportunity presents itself.
Kelley
Thanks, Kelly. I think it's a great idea. There have also been a bunch of fundraising events here and I expect there will be more as well.
