The Scream Zone in Del Mar | Halloween Fun at the Del Mar Fair Grounds, Del Mar, CA
The Scream Zone 2011 is well underway, scaring young and old alike at the famed Del Mar Fair Grounds in Del Mar, CA.
The Scream Zone has been a popular, interactive Halloween event for ages, and 2011 promises to be not different. [photo courtesy of lobo235 on Flickr]
The Scream Zone opened September 30 and will only last until, you guessed it, Halloween itself on the 31st.
With a reputation as the largest, and perhaps scariest, event located at the “Scaregrounds” in Del Mar, you probably do not want to miss.
Here are some things you can do…
If you dare.
Go on a Haunted Hayride past the haunted barn area
Take a “walk” through the House of Horror (not recommended for kids under 10)
Try not to get lost in The Chamber, a labyrinth of horror, suspense, and dead ends
Check out 1, 2 or all three with varying Ticket prices depending on how scared you want to be. Hours are 7 pm until midnight Fridays and Saturdays, and from 7 until 11 PM on other open nights (see schedule below):
Sept. 30 - Oct. 2
Oct. 6 - 9
Oct. 13 - 16
Oct. 20 - 31
The Scream Zone is located at the Del Mar Fair Grounds at 2260 Jimmy Durante Boulevard at the corner of Via de la Valle off the 5 freeway to the west. Call 858-755-1161, if you dare. Parking is free through the Solana Gate off Via de la Valle.

Absolutely. Lots of marine layer today and plenty of admin work in the home office.
Jeff
Angel Realty - the place has a great reputation.
And that spam (#3) is pretty scary. Hardly got the post up and there it was. I keep reporting but it hasn't disappeared.
Jeff
Too far away for me to come and visit, but it sounds like a great time - I hope you posted it to a localism post!
The scream zone sounds like a great place to spend Halloween..... Hope all don't get too spooked.
Joy - yep, it's there. I imagine there are some cool things happening in your area, too.
Joan - ha ha. Never happen to me.

Jeff, this is the time of the year for haunted events. We have
Plenty of places to go get scared ......... LOL
Jeff, now that my office is in Del Mar, I better have a look.
I tried to count your keyword density on this one - but lost track... ;-)
George - ain't it fun?
Terkel - well, hopefully I did not overdo it. I think I am OK per the standards I have seen. :)
Jeff
Looks like a lot of fun! There are so many great fall events it's hard to hit them all :)
Jeff,
I am envious. If I was down there, with my new outfit, I could fit right in.

Looks scary! I love the name!
Jeff, the Scream Zone sounds like a lot of fun for the kids and adults. Nice Localism Post!
This is real popular with the junior high school kids right now. Not my thing, but I guess there is a lid for every pot.
That sounds like alot of fun! We have a nice hauted house in Sioux Falls too. I haven't been through this year yet but I need to get ontop of that! Hope you are having a good weekend! So Jeff did you carve all of those pumpkins yourself??
Julie - that is so true. There is enough going on to do something just about every day.
Steven - hey I lke your new outfit.
Maria - right you are.
Angelica - me too. Their website is pretty neat, too.
Jeff
Hi Jeff, nice localism on the Scream Zone, and perfect for the season. I would take my grandkids there but chicken me would wait outside.
Well Jeff, Del Mar knows how to spook the public...i can skip it and just look at the carved pumpkins but the different level of scariness is very ingenious!
Great Post!
