Good Morning, This is Your Wake-up Call
Getting a wake-up call when traveling on business is often essential.
Getting one on vacation is not always on the agenda.
But here on Kauai one doesn’t have a choice.
Kauai is riddled with chickens, everywhere. Along the road, in the parks, in fields, in parking lots at the shopping centers, and at our hotel along the ocean.
The roosters, it seems, take their job very seriously.
Whether it’s competition because there are so many, or just because, they start VERY early in the morning and tend to make it their duty to crow off and on all day and into the night.
Seeing chickens everywhere reminded me of all the cats you see in Italy, and all the goats on St. Martin. Part of the local charm.
Hmm, there seem to be lots of places serving chicken, and the supermarkets offer lots of chicken dishes. Is this a coincidence?
Cock-a-doodle-do!! Time to wake up, dude!
Why DID the chicken cross the road??

I had no idea that the roosters were so plentiful. Good Morning to you too.
Oh I remember those roosters as well as the pickpockets in Rome as well. Oh wait....that may not be a good parallel :)
Key West also has some roosters roaming around-- hmmm. Interesting. Thanks for the wake-up call!
I hope you are enjoying your vacation. Kauai is one of my favorite Islands.
Dude, you do know it is the early bird that gets the worm! Just stopped by to say; "HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOST RADICAL SURFER TYPE DUDE!" Hope it is a good one! By the way, did you know you share this most audacious day with two other Rainers?
Jeff, no coincidence.........................where ever they are that day is where you will find the luncheon special.
By the way rumor has it today might be your birthday ( o.k. it's been posted once or twice) So I suggest when you see a chicken look else where...............follow a cow and make your Birthday special
Enjoy the day
I was going to say what Faith said about Key West.... You might be a little leary of any menu that brags about its "free range" chicken, lol! And Happy Birthday!
I heard through the grapevine that it's your birthday. Therefore, I know why the chicken crossed the road, to wish YOU a very Happy Birthday. ( and many more!)
And to think all you wanted to do was sleep in a little on your birthday!
Happy Birthday my friend.
Here's wishing you all the best today... and always.
Jeff- let's see you pry yourself alway from ActiveRain today!!!
Happy Birthday
Jeff, The chicken crossed the road to wish you a Very HAPPY BIRTHDAY! How could it not be a happy day in paradise on Kauai!
Enjoy your speical day. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
FIrst off, happy birthday. Second, nice to hear that you are in a sunny place. It's raining right now in your town.
Elite - well I didn't either but they tell you about them in the guide books. Hmm, the hotel didn't say a word. Woder if their roosters are on the payroll.
Doug - no problems with pickpockets in Rome but I know they were coming. Lots of gypsies on the trains and in the piazzas.
Faith - Yeah I remember that now that you mention it. Cluck Cluck
Maureen - it is absolutely stunning. But we are in the rainy seasons so lots of showers. like right now.
Jeff
Hi Jeff - how wonderful you are in Kauai and look forward to seeing more pictures. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you! hope you have a fantastic trip and especially today!
Jeff that guy looks like he is out to find him some hens. Rooster would be on the menu if he waked me up while I was on vacation ........... LOL
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Very cool photo. That rooster is awesome looking! Thanks for sharing!
-Michael
Hii Jeff, Happy Birthday. I would have put balloons or a cake up on this comment but I am doing this on thee iPad and have worked that process out as yet. SO Happy Birthday and hope you have a great time in Hawaii. You deserve the break and hope the trip is awesome.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Hi Jeff – I just dropped by to wish you a happy birthday. It
sounds like you are doing just that! I live in Fair Oaks, CA and we are famous for our feral chickens here. We have to keep the screen door closed at our office or they walk right in.
On our very first trip you your island we had a 1st floor condo, and the chicks would be on our patio first light crowing!
