A Visit to Kilauea Lighthouse in Kaua’i, Hawaii

We spent an amazing 5 days in Kaua’i for my birthday in early November – I am still enjoying looking at the photos.

Pt. Reyes lighthouse north of San Francisco CAComing from New England, I am a big lighthouse fan. After all they are all over the place there, particularly in Maine and on Cape Cod.

Lighthouses are not so common here on the Left Coast, but we enjoyed a visit to Point Reyes north of San Francisco a couple of year ago to see that lighthouse (photo to the right).

It is amazing terrain with incredible views in all directions, and the drive there through Marin County is well worth the trip if you ever get the chance.

We were even able to see San Francisco, a distance of about 50 miles I think.

We could see the KILAUEA LIGHTHOUSE from our hotel room in Princeville, Kaua’i, about 5 miles I would guess across the ocean. It was great fun to visit and see it up close, and enjoy all the bird life at the wildlife refuge, including the national bird, the Nene (looks like a Canadian goose).

The light house looked awesome on top of the hill. Thanks for sharing

Jeff,

We got there too late to visit that light house. But from the road it looked great. Five days in paradise for your birthday-not a bad way to spend some time in November. Have a good 2012.

Don  - not sure which I would say was more spectacular. The views from Point Reyes were more dramatic

Wayne - it was amazing, even though there was a fair amount of rain. I would go again in a heartbeat.

Happy Belated Birthday, I guessed I missed it, LOL. The photos and slide show are great Jeff and enjoyed seeing them. Well done and Happy New year! I feel it in my bones that this is going to be a much better year than we have had in a while. I sure hope I'm right :-)

PS, If AR gets any slower, I think I could send comments faster by carrier pigeon, hehehe

Thanks, William. It was a great time. Hard to believe it was 2 months ago.

And yes, AR is terrible right now and has been for days. Several times I have simply given up trying to do anything.

We have a few really good ones worth viewing on the great lakes.  We spent the day visiting a few last summer and had a great time, great views from the top on the ones you can enter and climb

Jeff... LOVE lighthouses and have never seen this one.  Thanks for the visual.  I can't wait to go to Maine one day and see all of them up close and personal!

No lighthouses out here in Albuquerque.  Looks like you had great views.  Loved the slide show.  Thank you for sharing it with us!

Jeff I also love lighthouses.  By the way did you get to see Sally Cheeseman while you were there?
