Carlsbad Offers Free Christmas Tree Recycling Until January 13, 2018

Happy New Year 2018

Now that the holidays are over you may be wondering how to get rid of your Christmas, if you have one and it’s not artificial, and you haven’t already done the deed!

The City of Carlsbad offers free, curbside pickup until January 12th, plus drop-off bin locations for Christmas trees until Saturday, January 13th.

Christmas TreeIf you want to have curbside pickup on your regular trash pick-up day trees are to be placed at the end of your driveway next to your green waste bin.

PLEASE NOTE: If your tree is taller than 6 feet it should be cut in half. Residents should place the tree in the Green Waste recycling bin.

Flocked trees cannot be recycled but must be picked up as trash.

It goes without saying, but be sure to remove all decorations, lights, tinsel and tree stands before recycling. The good news is that Carlsbad will recycle the trees by converting them into mulch for San Diego County.

There are also 4 convenient drop-off locations for residents to use for their tree recycling:

Calavera Hills Community Park, 2997 Glasgow Drive

Stagecoach Community Park, 3420 Camino de los Coches

Poinsettia Community Park, 6600 Hidden Valley Road

Fire Station 1, 1275 Carlsbad Village Drive

Anyone with questions should contact Waste Management at (760) 929-9400, or visit the Waste Management website.

Glad to hear that is happening in your city.  Such a vaste reminder of city vs. back woods where I live. My two got turned to mulch... in my own yard with my own wood chipper.

Morning Jeff.

Our recycling will end this week.  If it is not at the curb, it will remain there until you personally remove it.

We do that in Oklahoma City but the days where everyone had real trees seems to have gone away.

Great localism post, Jeff. I did mine last week (but clearly lots of people in Charlotte were not listening!  )

Jeff Dowler great, timely information for tree recycling.  We had a local news report that a goat farm was taking in natural trees and recycling by their goats eating them!

Jeff this is a valuable service.  It can be an issue at time on how to get rid of the Christmas tree after Christmas
