Carlsbad Real Estate News and Views: The New Carlsbad Art Wall Mural in Carlsbad Village January 2018

Here's the REAL scoop on living in Carlsbad ~ beaches, things to do, places to eat, community events, and of course neighborhoods, homes and the Carlsbad real estate market in general, including surrounding communities like Encinitas, Cardiff, San Marcos, Oceanside, Solana Beach and Del Mar.

Carlsbad Art Wall Mural in Carlsbad Village

New Mural January 2018

The Carlsbad Art Wall now has a new mural, painted this past Friday and Saturday, January 19th and 20th. In case you are not familiar with this changing wall art, you’ll find it on the east-facing wall at Senor Grubby's, a popular Mexican Restaurant in Carlsbad Village on Carlsbad village Drive just west of the train tracks.

This colorful mural was painted by Sarah Spinks, a Vista tattoo artist, and obviously a wall muralist as well! Sarah is President and Founder of the Backfence Society, a non-profit “dedicated to positive community engagement through art.” She also chairs the City of Vista Public Arts Commission.

Carlsbad artist, Bryan Snyder, is the brainchild behind the Carlsbad Art Wall (CAW), created in cooperation with the owner of Senor Grubby’s Mexican Restaurant in the heart of the Village, easily visible as you head toward the beach on Carlsbad Village Drive – look to the left just past the rail road tracks.

Carlsbad is known as a growing and changing arts community, with loads of public art, and the Carlsbad Art Wall is a wonderful addition to our expanding arts community. And the bonus is it changes several times per year!

Here are some recent Carlsbad Art Wall murals I enjoyed:

Carlsbad Art Wall May 2017

Carlsbad Art Wall March 2017

Carlsbad Art Wall August 2016

Carlsbad Art Wall March 2016

Carlsbad Art Wall January 2016

It's always fun to see what each artist creates, and locals often hang out to watch the artists at work.  It’s cool that the wall art is up for a few months, giving residents and visitors plenty of time to enjoy these very special, and fleeting, public art creations.

Morning Jeff.

Just curious, how often do they change the mural?

Jeff Dowler - I like this! I was just in my car yesterday waiting for the light to change and saw a very ugly wall. I thought to myself, even graffiti would be an improvement. But this work on your photo is really beautiful!

Hi Jeff Dowler

Great post.

I am up here in Edmonds Washington a small waterfront community on Puget Sound. We have a Marina, Train Station, all the usual old time America small town stuff.

A couple years ago they began the Wall Mural thing around town. You can now find the most amazing hand painted full building wall murals throughout our town.

People come from all over to tour our town to visit the Murals. It amaes me people will actually take a week long vacation to our town to see the murals... they come for other stuff too, but until we started having them, I didn't know it was such a big thing.

Thanks for sharing the wall mural here in your post.

All the best.

Happy Selling!

Brad
