Carlsbad Real Estate News and Views: Al Fresco Dining in Carlsbad – Do You Have a Reservation?

Here's the REAL scoop on living in Carlsbad ~ beaches, things to do, places to eat, community events, and of course neighborhoods, homes and the Carlsbad real estate market in general, including surrounding communities like Encinitas, Cardiff, San Marcos, Oceanside, Solana Beach and Del Mar.

Al Fresco Dining in Carlsbad – Do You Have a Reservation?

Al Fresco Dining in Carlsbad

Do You Have a Reservation?

finches eatingAl fresco dining tends to be popular in Carlsbad, especially in the summer. And plenty of eateries have places to dine outside.

Much of the year you can eat outside, using heat lamps when it’s really chilly.

Since Carlsbad tends to be popular, that means crowds especially in the summer, which also means you probably should have reservations for dining, in particular on the weekends for our more popular restaurants in Carlsbad Village.

Since that list was written in 2016 I would add some new eateries - Campfire, 264 Fresco (this was Fresco Trattoria, with a remodel and ownership change in late 2017) and Bluewater Grill (in the old Fish House Vera Cruz location).

Now if you are dining al fresco at the beach, or along the boardwalk, ready to watch the setting sun, no reservations are needed. But getting early to the parking areas is important for the best seating.

Jeff,

What a lovely post, and a lovely picture.  We enjoy al fresco dining, and our weather sure lends itself to it.  A

Jeff so you don't need dinner resevations, but you need parking reservations

I love to dine this way and when we are at our home in Florida we look for outdoor dining whereever we go. Also our poodle goes with us.

Great photos Jeff Dowler, CRS and one of my favorite lifestyle changes moving here, was all the outdoor dining one can do here and lots of it with an ocean view! I can see you in Carlsbad way at the top left of the coastline pictured here.

Hi Jeff Dowler, CRS, if I could, I would dine this way every single night, we don't have many options where I live though. Beautiful pictures.

Jeff, dining al fresco is one of my favorite things to do. I'd do it even more if I lived in your area - beautiful views.

Ha ha George Souto  - it’s true. Watching the sun set, while dining or not, is a pretty popular activity along out coast.

Hi Joe Pryor

No doubt there are plenty of outdoor dining opportunities in Florida, given the weather, dogs included!

Hey Thomas J. Nelson, Realtor, ePRO, CRS, RCS-D

I’d say the same is true for me, coming from New England, and especially that first winter we were her!

Is that view from Top of the Cove? If not, it’s pretty similar!

Oh, we are big on al fresco dining too, Jeff! We do that quite often here in Charlotte but, there are months that it's just a little too stuffy/humid outdoors to really enjoy it.

Love the photos, Jeff - would SO enjoy watching that sunset while dining al fresco...and in Carlsbad too!!

Lovely picture, Jeff. For some reason, I've never been fond of al fresco dining unless it was in Europe.

Sure looks like there are worse places in the world to have a picnic my friend.

Hi Tammy Lankford,

There is something special about sunsets over the water. Or sunrises! And of course you know all about that!

Hi Amanda S. Davidson

I get that. I enjoy having all the al fresco dining opportunities. But my favorite is still on the beach...we just don't seem to get around to it very often.

Hi Debe Maxwell, CRS

Well I get that. Thank goodness we don't get much humidity here so we CAN enjoy it. But the desert gets too hot to dine outdoors when we have visited in the summer.

Nina Hollander

Well there IS something very charming about the cafes etc. in Europe and dining outside, enjoying watching life go by. Rome and Paris work for me!

Hi JL Boney, III

Agreed. We cannot complain. Not every sunset is that nice but when they are, they are special, and enjoyable to watch, dining or not.
