Carlsbad Village Summer Flicks at the Fountain 2018 Begin July 5

2018 Flicks at the Fountain Begins July 5 in Carlsbad Village

Summer starts officially next week on the 21st. We are already experiencing beautiful weather, and seeing more visitors. A Carlsbad summer also means more outdoor recreational options, and outdoor movies.

Carlsbad signThe popular free movie series, Flick Flicks at the Fountain, will be returning to Carlsbad Village. The series starts July 5 and runs for 6 successive Thursday nights through August 9.

In case you haven’t attended, Flicks at the Fountain takes place behind the fountain in the Village by the parking lot at the corner of State Street and Grand Avenue.

Here’s the full Flicks at the Fountain schedule so you can plan to see your favorites, or take them all in:

July 5 - The Greatest Showman

July 12 - Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (rated PG-13)

July 19 - Coco

July 26 - The Neverending Story

August 2 - The Lion King

August 9 - Wonder Woman

The movies are all G or PG (except Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) but it’s wise to check out the movies online first to be sure they are suitable for your kids.

Movie-goers can start getting seated at 6 PM and the movies start around dusk (a little after 8 PM in July, and around 7:45 in August when the sun is setting a little earlier). Be sure to bring along blankets (you know how it can get chilly in the summer evenings by the beach), chairs and food/snacks to enjoy.

Another option for food is to stop by one of the many local restaurants in the area and grab a take-out meal.

These are fun events for families. I remember going to the Drive In as a kid, meeting new friends at the swings before the show started and trying to fall asleep on the way home so I could get carried in.

Hi George Souto

We have not been but what a great venue right in town, and free. The movie Coco is well worth seeing if you have not - it's animated and wonderfully done...all about the Day of the Dead!

Thanks so much, Ron and Alexandra Seigel . It's a very popular event from what we have heard, and fun time on a summer eve.

Hi Joe Pryor

Well I agree from what I have heard, although I have only seen Coco (which was terrific) and Ferris Bueller's Day Off (sooo many years ago!).  It's certainly a fun way to spend a summer evebing outdoors, and inexpensive.
