Carlsbad Real Estate News and Views: 36th Annual Carlsbad Oktoberfest 2018 is Saturday October 6

Here's the REAL scoop on living in Carlsbad ~ beaches, things to do, places to eat, community events, and of course neighborhoods, homes and the Carlsbad real estate market in general, including surrounding communities like Encinitas, Cardiff, San Marcos, Oceanside, Solana Beach and Del Mar.

2018 Carlsbad Oktoberfest is Saturday October 6th

It’s hard to believe Fall officially arrives September 23rd. And that means, among other things, it’s time for the annual Carlsbad Oktoberfest and Family Fall Festival, North San Diego County’s longest running Oktoberfest!

The 36th Annual Rotary Carlsbad Oktoberfest will be held, as always, in our beautiful Holiday Park, from 12 noon until 10 pm. Holiday Park is located on

Pio Pico, heading south from Carlsbad Village Drive (just east of the 5 freeway), between Pine and Chestnut.

Here’s a site map of the Carlsbad Oktoberfest so you don’t miss anything!

Holiday Park in Carlsbad - Carlsbad Oktoberfest siteParking in the residential community surrounding Holiday Park is limited, so consider parking at the SW corner of The Shoppes at Carlsbad (at El Camino Real and the 78) and taking the shuttle buses. Shuttles run every 20 minutes, from 11:30 am until 10:30 pm.

The Carlsbad Oktoberfest 2018 is sponsored, as it always is, by the Rotary Club of Carlsbad. There are other sponsors as well including TBD That Boy Good, and Markstein Beverage Company, and more.

Oktoberfest funds for 2018 will go to 2 major beneficiaries, the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation, and Solutions for Change, a local charity that is dedicated to working toward solving family homelessness.

Naturally you can expect the usual Oktoberfest fun and entertainment to keep you, friends and family busy from start to finish - German music and other bands, polka dancing, puppet shows, arts and crafts, games, rides, several costume and yodeling contests, and of course the classic German Oktoberfest dinner.

There’s also a Children’s ID event where you can receive fingerprinting and ID cards for your kids.

Advance tickets at $15 (for 1 full meal and admission), plus other ticket levels, can be purchased online at Eventbrite.

How fun for those who like OktoberFest.  Funny enough, in Germany it is celebrated at the end of September, and I have always wondered why they call it Oktober Fest.  I queried a German couple in Hawaii about this and they did not have the answer...just one of those life's mysteries.  LOL A

Hi Jeff,

Bend's Oktoberfest is a week from Friday - and my brokerage is a title sponsor.  I hope yours in Carlsbad is a lot of fun.

Hi Jeff... of course, if you're in Munich by the time you have your Oktoberfest, their's is over. This sounds like a really fun event and I'd sure check it out if I lived in Carlsbad.

I will ask our good German friends, too, just to see what they say. But Google says it started with the wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig to Princess Theresa, back in 1810 on Oct. 12. But even the big Oktoberfest in Munich starts in September, as do some of the festivals in my area. Septemberfest doesn't quite have the same ring!

Hi Lynnea Miller

Wow, good for you. I assume you will be attending? Have fun!

I won't be around for our event but I understand it's quite something!
