Carlsbad Real Estate News and Views: Dang it's Cold in Carlsbad!

Here's the REAL scoop on living in Carlsbad ~ beaches, things to do, places to eat, community events, and of course neighborhoods, homes and the Carlsbad real estate market in general, including surrounding communities like Encinitas, Cardiff, San Marcos, Oceanside, Solana Beach and Del Mar.

Dang it's Cold in Carlsbad!

Dang It's Cold in Carlsbad, California!!

Ice in Carlsbad

This was the view that greeted me in my car early this morning when I was leaving for spin class at the gym. Where IS that ice scraper when you need it? I happily donated mine back in 2005 when we left Boston, sure that I would never need it...guess I should have kept it!

The weather report has announced freeze warnings for the last couple of days inland from us here in Southern California - into the 20s - and it's been in the high 30s or so at night here at the coast the last few nights. Yes, I realize those of you in colder areas are laughing, but ice on the windshield was no laughing matter.I gave that up years ago when I left Boston!

It was nice and 37 degrees warm in Irvine, when cold ... think Chicago and feel better

Hi Deepak Chauhan

Well, we complain but given what so many others deal with we really shouldn't. I lived in New England for years, and spent 2 years in MN so I know REAL cold weather...and know that I really don't like it!

I have been to East Coast few times, not able to understand these Easterners have enough money, you and I can help move them here. Why go thru shoveling ice 5 months in a year. It is not about us you and I know... we are here to help dude!

No one understands me these days! Same thing at home. Oh well

Jeff,

It was cold here too, no freeze warnings...It goes down to the mid to low 40's for the last week!  Rain is predicted for twomorrow...I lived in Minnesota, that was a frozen tundra in my opinion...we have family there.  A

Hi Jeff Dowler, CRS, hope it won't be this cold for long. Our temps are extremely high if you ask my opinion, it was so refreshing to be in Las Vegas and actually wear a coat and see snow in the mountains.

I have helped plenty of people move hear from back East. I suppose if you love snow being there is jsut fine. There are cdertainly wonderful places to live, especially in New England where I spent 20+ years.  Making a big change is tough!

Ha ha Ron and Alexandra Seigel

I had to laugh at your characterization of Minnesota. Yep, it felt like that at times. The worst I recall were the temps around -35 and windchills down to -70.

We are due for rain here, too, tomorrow - hopeful!

Have a great weekend!

Hi Beth Atalay

What a nice change that must have been. I can see snow on several different mountains from Carlsbad but that's off quite a distance. And I'm happy about that. This cold weather is enough for me!

Enjoy your weekend!

Hi Abby Stiller

Well for us it's pretty chilly. Have had the furnace on more than normal. Our days have been beautiful, up around 55 to 60 which is great this time of year.

It has been chilly here in the Arizona desert for several mornings too. It will warm up in a day or 2 thankfully.

Not quite that cold here but I am freezing. I am sitting at my desk with fingerless gloves on. I just can't get wall. And it's hysterical to see the way So. Cal. people dress in this weather. Snowbirds would be wearing shorts and we are all boots, hats, gloves and scarves.

Hi Sharon Lee

We are expecting a little warmer weather, too, and some rain. Hope it happens. I was just so surprised to see the windshield all iced up - that hasn't happened since I've been here.

The weather has been crazy all around the country it seems. Stay warm and hope the temp improves over the weekend.

Ha ha Jane Peters

It's so true. And everyone is talking about how cold it is. Still see a few people in shorts BUT with their sweaters or jackets AND UGG boots!!

Hi Joyce Marsh, Daytona Ormond Beach Florida

It really has been a mix of ugly stuff around the country. I gripe about the cold but it's really NOT that big a deal. I've gotten spoiled since living here in SoCal!
