Fun at Legoland California in Carlsbad June 2019

I spent a few hours yesterday at Legoland California with my daughter, her husband and my 4-year-old granddaughter for her birthday which was the 28th. It was a blast. Of course having the opportunity to experience Legoland through the eyes, and energy, of a 4-year-old is pretty special.

And now that I have visited another of Carlsbad’s tourist attractions I have even more to share with those relocating to the area.

Lego robotIt’s hard to believe that after living here in Carlsbad for 14 years that we have never been to Legoland.

Our kids were grown when we moved here, and only recently are the grandkids now really old enough to go and enjoy…so no doubt more Legoland visits will be on the future calendar.

In my opinion Legoland is a place you have to go with kids, sorta like Disneyland!

I’ve done my fair share of playing with legos since the grandkids started arriving 8 years (see my robot to the right). And wow, are there a lot of different types and sizes these days.

Legos are pretty popular with most kids, it seems, and I have built more towers and other things than I can count with the help of the young ones.

But there is something pretty awesome about BEING at Legoland where you are surrounded by millions of legos, and an amazing array of lego objects – it’s pretty incredible what can be created from legos – animals, people (loved the Star Wars exhibit especially the Death Star and the main characters), miniature cities (Las Vegas, San Francisco, LA with Legowood) and the list goes on and on.

Here are just a few photos to enjoy. If you haven’t been and are in the Carlsbad area it’s really worth it – or check out some of the other Legolands worldwide. While the adults certainly can enjoy the legos and the rides on the own, it’s best with kids around!

How fun, Jeff! And loved your pictures. Our grandsons loved legos... but it's been a very long time since I thought about them as the youngest one is 23 years old!

Good morning Jeff. These photos are incredible. Some tomes I wonder how people can come up with these.

Good morning, Jeff - what a great experience to have the opportunity for your granddaughter to see a place like Legoland for the first time and for you to enjoy seeing that once-in-a-lifetime chance.

Jeff, what a thrill for you little grand daughter that must have been.  Not long ago, Ron and I wandered into a Lego store marveling at all the building possibilites and the choices of pieces.  We got out of there pronto before we were about to buy some for ourselves.  A

LegoLand is such a fun place, I am glad you had such a good time!  My family and I went a few years ago and I was amazed by all of the structures that were built from legos!

Hi Nina Hollander

I'm glad this brought back fond memories, even though distant. 2 of our 4 grandkids are still really into the legos and not a visit goes by when I am not building something!

Hi Sheila Anderson

Well I have to agree. It's pretty astounding what can be created with legos. I understand there is quite a recruitment process to find people to create things with legos!

Ha ha Ron and Alexandra Seigel

Marvel IS the perfect word - what you can get these days from the Lego company is truly amazing. I think you should have bought something to play with!!

Jeff, what a great time! No matter what age we are I can't imagine not having fun at Legoland. My Godsons would love this, there's not a time I visit them that we aren't building something.

Jeff that would be a place I would love to take my almost 5 year old granddaughter to.

Indeed Sally K. & David L. Hanson . It's amazing what has been created from legos of all sizes, and what's available for kids to play with.

Hi Amanda S. Davidson

I suspect that's true of many who have young kids in the family.

Hi George Souto

You, and she, would have a blast for sure. And there's really too much to take in all in one day, unless you are there from opening to closing. Who has the energy for that?!

I would find that fun as an adult. The movies have renewed my interest in Legos.
