Make it Gelato Day in Carlsbad

Saturday July 13th

GelatoLove is one of my favorite stores in Carlsbad Village. And no doubt many others as well. Here's a photo I took when first visiting the store when they opened.

GelatoLove in Carlsbad, formerly Gaia Gelato

GelatoLove originally opened as Gaia Gelato in March 2015. I had a chance to visit and meet one of the owners, Paola Richard, who hails from Rome, and of course to enjoy some of their gelato. The equipment was all brought over from Rome, and Cristina, the gelato chef, learned about artisanal gelato production in Perugia from some of the best Silician gelato masters.

pints of GelatoLove (formerly Gaia Gelato)I can’t tell you how many pints of gelato we’ve enjoyed since that time, but who’s counting. While I’ve tried many of the flavors (and they change), my fave is the chocolate sorbet…it’s an intense, flavorful chocolate that beats any other gelato I recall having.

GelatoLove, in collaboration with Carlsbad Food Tours, is sponsoring a fun event on Saturday, July 13th – an opportunity to learn how to make gelato in Carlsbad.

GelatoLove expanded their operation and renamed their flagship store, an opened their Tasting Room and Gelato Lab at 5661 Palmer Way, Suite C (just north of Faraday and east of El Camino Real). "Make it Gelato Day" will be held there from 12 to 2. The cost is $45 per person for adults, with kids 10 and under $25.

You'll get to make gelato from the freshest local, organic and natural ingredients (did you know they use Carlsbad's mineral springs alkaline water?), plus learn how to make sorbet drinks. Of course there will be a tasting, and you can take home a pint of gelato that you made!

The number of participants is limited so don't wait. You can reserve your place here.

You can check out their website to learn more, and of course if you by some chance have NOT been, visit GelatoLove in the Carlsbad Village Faire courtyard area - you'll be thrilled at the offerings, available in multiple sizes including a pint to take home, plus other desserts and goodies, too!

Hi Jeff Dowler, CRS - I am there with you for Gelato Day!  Love it.

How fun, and we both enjoy Gelato.  If you are either in Malibu or Century City, you should try Gröm, its Italian and organic, and their chocolate and espresso is swoon worthy.  A

Jeff any day is a good day for Gelato even if it falls on the 13th of the month.

Hi Jeff Dowler, CRS, I don't like regular ice cream but enjoy Gelato on occasion. Any day should be celebrated with Gelato!

Hi Beth Atalay

I would definitely enjoy gelato every day...but it's a good thing I don't...budget-wise and waist-line-wise! LOL.
