Wordless Wednesday: Dragonfly Sculpture

Wordless Wednesday: Dragonfly Sculpture

I've always admired those who create sand sculptures, some of which can be pretty amazing.

We recently stayed a couple of days in Wailea, Maui and the resort had a big sandbox which featured a new sand sculpture each week. The first morning we were there we went for a walk along the beach and found that week's feature - a huge dragonfly. Pretty impressive, don't you think?

That's a really cool Sculture Jeff Dowler, CRS ! Our grandson loves to make cool scupture and then, like most little boys, mess them all up and start all over!  Fun to watch.

Thanks Anna Banana Kruchten CRB, CRS 602-380-4886  The details were impressive.

And yes, the grandkids love building and destroying - sand castles, lego buildings, etc. It's more fun to tear down I think.

Hi Jeff - a new sand sculpture each week - that's impressive in my book.

Jeff Dowler, CRS  All that work intense work at it can be gone with a wave of the hand - beautiful piece of art

The patience and ingenuity they must have for being able to build those sculptures every week! It's a nice piece of art.

I agree, Jeff, that's pretty impressive!!!  When we lived in Delray, Larry and I loved finding sand sculptures that had been left for us to admire.

Michael Jacobs

Good point! I can't imagine creating something new like this every week, let alone doing it even once. far beyond MY capabilities!

Hi Hannah Williams

Well it was in a protected area and hopefully anyone walking by, including those with kids, would respect it and not ruin it. Bet it happens some, though. So much work could be ruined so fast.

Beutiful. Ahhh Wailea, Maui. My second home for many years (since 1975). I was married there at The Grand Wailea and spent many vacations there. I discovered Willie K there about 20 years ago.

Hi Jeff Dowler, CRS, this is a great piece of art, thank you for sharing it with us. Sadly, it takes a long time to build something this beautiful but seconds to destroy, similar to many things in life.

I love seeing stuff like that too, I am so glad you shared this with us!  I enjoy watching people create such things, I doubt I could ever do it myself.

That's a wow, Jeff! It is impressive. Do you know who did these sculptures?

So true Leif Price  I cannot imagine doing this. I wish we were there to see it being created!

Here's one we saw in San Diego after the Orlando shooting tragedy.

Jeff that is an amazing sand sculpture.  It requires a lot of talent to produce something like that.

Hi Nina Hollander

No, the signage only said it was something the resort created every week - no specific person mentioned. I can't imagine being able to do this.

Me neither, Jeff Dowler, CRS Do you think this job is in someone's job description?

Posted by Nina Hollander, Your Charlotte/Ballantyne/Waxhaw/Fort Mill Realtor (Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage ) 14 days ago

Jeff- That is way cool and that one in your comments is even more so.

A LOT of talent AND patience George Souto ! And some pretty good planning as you build! Far beyond my pay-grade.

Thank you Sharon Lee . I had forgotten about the one I had of the Orlando Memorial until I wa writing my comment. Truly amazing. But that dragonfly impressed the heck out of me and is certainly a far cry from any sand creations I have ever made!

I have a fascination with dragonflies.  They often appear in my yard in various colors - Red, Orange, Blue, Green.  I've never seen one like the one pictured.  I'd like to have it in my backyard!

Posted by Myrl Jeffcoat, Greater Sacramento Real Estate Agent (GreatWest Realty) 14 days ago

Hi Myrl Jeffcoat

We saw some wonderful dragonflies in Maui - they were huge!! I love tha various colors!

We see some around our home but not all that often - they are fascinating to watch!

I want the job of recreating the featured sculpture each week, Jeff! I can't imagine the job satisfaction - the beach would give you so much inspiration, wouldn't it?!

I do often wonder how the artists bear to watch their works of art washed away though.

Hi Debe Maxwell, CRS

That would be quite the job, and place to work, if one had the skills.

I think it WOULD be hard to know your creation is short lived, but knowing many will walk by and enjoy it likely helps.

That's a great point, Jeff!  Knowing you made someone smile every day - yes, that's a win!
