Never Forget 9/11

September 11, 2001

Chalk Art Memory of September 11 in CarlsbadChalk Art Memory of 9/11 in Carlsbad

I know exactly where I was when I first heard about what happened on 9/11. Do you? The emotions well up every time I think about that horrific time, now 18 years ago!

When I first heard the news about a plane hitting the Twin Towers, I was working at a small Internet marketing company, HookMedia, in downtown Boston. The company had gone Chapter 11 due to the dot com melt-down, and was sold to an international media conglomerate.

As VP of Human Resources I was the last official employee, with the responsibility for closing out the company by retrieving and reviewing all creditors’ records. It was painful and emotional, given I was hired in 1999 as the 6th employee, and had hired about 125 people in a little over a year and opened 2 additional offices in Atlanta and New York City.

The initial information was sketchy and I did not learn much more until I got home and planted myself in front of the TV with my college-age daughter for hours. What an awful day for America!!

The vivid memory of watching the live coverage of the one tower collapsing on TV will always remain, as will all the heroic stories, and the sheer horror of the thousands of lives lost, including first responders, firefighters and so many more. And many of them are still suffering health-wise, and some have died.

How will you be remembering?!

Good morning, Jeff Dowler, CRS I was at the office and received a phone call from my daughter....she and her husband, Ryan, and their three children were staying at my house....they moved from Long Island and Ryan was at his new job with the Sheriff of Norfolk County... he came home that morning and picked up all the children at school....we spent the rest of the day glued to the tv and calling the family on L.I.... no one was in the city that day except one and she was not at work yet....we were all thankful for that.

Good morning Jeff. For me the past is the past, but 9-11 will never be forgotten.

Hi Barbara Todaro

Seems like most of the people I talked to spent time with family that day, in front of the news.

Hi James Dray

Ironically we were supposed to be in NYC the following weekend - needless to say we did not go.

Things really have changed in our world since then.

Hi Jeff... as with other cataclysmic events of our lifetime, 9/11 is seared into my brain. I remember that day as if it all happened just yesterday.

Jeff I remember watching the second plan flying into the tower.  I felt like I was in a fog and that could not possibly be happening.
