Good Morning Last Morning of Summer 2019 in Carlsbad

It's hard to believe summer is over today and that the first day of Fall is tomorrow! Where did it go?

Tomorrow, September 23rd, is the Autumnal Equinox, when the day and night are of approximately equal duration. No doubt you have also noticed how much shorter the days have gotten (well, the daylight, that is).

The weather is still beautiful, but with cooler nights, and we are seeing changes in the flowers, and the tree leaves. And the orioles have migrated south.

Stores are celebrating Halloween, and have been for some time, as well as Christmas, still 3 months away.

Today is the 2nd day of ArtWalk Carlsbad 2019, on Armada Drive overlooking the Flower Fields and a panoramic view of the ocean.

And in case anyone cares, here are some birthdays and historic events that took place on August 22.

Jeff,

I was just saying this to Ron this morning as we sipped on our capuccino!  It has gotten cooler and the days have been getting shorter.  We even have rain in the forecast for Friday.

I have ignored all the pumpkins and the decorations.  Wishing you a great Sunday and  a great week ahead.

Good morning Jeff. I love Fall. Today it is 85 in the Berkshires and I know there will be more in October. Enjoy your day.

Hi Ron and Alexandra Seigel

I am trying to ignore all the holiday stuff as well, including Halloween.

We are expecting rain, too, possibly as early as Tuesday, which we definitely need. It sounds like the storm to the south has moderated some but we are likely to get something from it. Time will tell. We certainly DON'T need a serious storm!

Thanks, Sheila Anderson

Hope all is well and you enjoy a beautiful fall. The other day you had frost and today 85! That's warmer than here, atleast at the moment.

It is strange but so is life Jeff. I'm well and hope you are too.

Hi Jeff - while some may be rushing to the year end festivities and the arrival of 2020, it's good to experience all the joys of the last day of Summer as we welcome Fall tomorrow

Jeff, our summer here was very short.  June was still chilly and rainy, and some of July too.   Glad for the cooler days though.

Good afternoon Jeff - yes, summer is over.  Next big thing is Halloween!

Well, we certainly do not want to rush things, Michael Jacobs  - time seems to do that pretty well on its own!

Hi Joan Cox

Our summer was a bit cooler that I would have liked, at least early on. It's my favorite time of year so I hate that it is passing, although fall is pretty nice and we can get some pretty warm weather in October!!

Hard to believe Grant Schneider

The stores have been planning for Halloween for weeks now.

Jeff even though tomorrow is the first day of Fall, our weather is suppose to Summer like all week.  I got a feeling this will be the last of the warm weather for us until next Spring.

Jeff maybe according to the calendar Summer is over but my A/C is working overtime today:)) as to the nights and days, yes Diane complains to me all the time that it is getting dark when she gets up and it is dark when she gets home:)) we had a big discussion that it was lighter in the evenings when we lived in Boston....is she right??Endre

Good morning Jeff Dowler, CRS I would imagine change of seasons in your part of the country means 80 degree beach days rather than 90's...

Morning Jeff.

The leaves are already changing, some of them are falling.  Hummingbirds are gone, sigh

Hi Jeff... the calendar might be saying fall, but the weather at my end of the world is still saying summer! And I have a feeling it will continue to say that for some weeks to come.

I like the sound of that and hopefully, it means that perfect weather in the East Valley is on its way for me!

George Souto

Hope you don't have an early winter! I guess we will see your blog progression of leaves before too long??

Hi Endre Barath, Jr.

Yep the weather has been fairly warm but I definitely noticed the air quality change at night.

Yes, I think it was lighter in the evenings in Boston because we were further north, but that was for the summer. I think in the winter it was dark earlier.

Hi Barbara Todaro

Actually it's rare for it to be in the 90s along the coast...typically the warmest is low 80s unless we have the Santa Ana winds. But go inland 10 -15 miles it can be 10-20 degrees hotter in the summer than where I live...and that suits me just fine.

Hello Jeff,  leaves not changing in our area yet so fall could be late this year here.

I'm late to this post, Jeff Dowler, CRS ... but I remain in awe of the fact that Fall has arrived!  The days are moving too quickly ...

Ha! Ha! Until this day, I didn't even realize we had the last day of September and that Fall has begun!

There is plenty of Halloween stuff here in stores too! I'm not feeling the Fall yet and my grass still needs cutting. I'm just going with the flow as I feel certain, you are too!

Happy Fall!

We immediately received high hot 100 degree temperatures in Silicon Valley once "fall started".
