Holiday at the Rancho

Carlsbad December 7, 2019

The Carlsbad holiday season is well under way with plentiful events to enjoy. Up next – Small Business Saturday, and the Musical Kickoff to the Holidays, both on Saturday November 30th.

December 7th is a busy holiday Saturday, with several events to enjoy, including the annual Holiday at the Rancho at Leo Carrillo Historic Ranch in Carlsbad.

The 2019 Holiday at the Rancho, with a bit of western history, is from 5 – 8 PM at the Leo Carrillo Ranch Park, located at 6200 Flying LC Lane off Melrose in Carlsbad in the Rancho Carrillo area of Carlsbad, about a mile south of Palomar Airport Road and a short distance past Poinsettia Avenue.

Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park in CarlsbadIn addition to plentiful holiday decorations and lights, the annual Holiday at the Rancho offers lots of fun things to see and do: face painting, holiday crafts, gift shopping, holiday themed activities that include cookie decorating, entertainment, and a holiday train ride.

Last but not least there is the holiday tree lighting ceremony with Santa on the sand by the pool at 5:45 pm.

Photo opportunities will follow or you can purchase souvenir photos.

Kids young and old will also enjoy the outdoor holiday movie on the big screen, “Elf” (who doesn’t love this movie?! It’s PG rated) beginning at 6 pm. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

You can be sure the Leo Carrillo Historic Ranch Park will be festively decorated that will delight and put you in the holiday spirit if you aren’t already!

Tickets for Holiday at the Rancho are $10.00 per person; children 3 and under are free. You may purchase your tickets online; call (760) 602-7519 for more information.

Parking is available, but somewhat limited, at The Leo Carrillo Historic Ranch Park itself (and this is a popular event). But you can park on adjacent streets in the surrounding neighborhood, or at the Leo Carrillo Elementary School close by and walk.

The Ranch is really a cool place to visit. It's wonderful to have this former ranch with all the buildings, including the main hacienda, preserved in the middle of this expansive residential area. You have to go on a tour to get inside them but it's well worth it. And it's free unless there is a special event!

Jeff there is certainly enough events going on around you for the Holidays to keep you busy.

Hi Jeff... no doubt that Carlsbad goes all out for the holidays... and I think if one lives there it's impossible not to get into the holiday spirit.

As an absolutely nutty fan of the season, your photo makes me so excited. It's amazing how lights can transform everything into a magic wonderland. We can get pretty dreary in these parts during December - the holiday lights make it so much more enjoyable. D
