 Holiday Window Decorating Contest

Carlsbad Village 2019

It’s almost Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and holiday events are in full swing in Carlsbad.

Don’t forget this Saturday is Small Business Saturday where you can #ShopSmall to support our local businesses in Carlsbad Village. While you can, of course, shop anytime, November 30th is a special day nationally to raise awareness for local small businesses and for shoppers to enjoy merchant specials and holiday festivities.

Plus from 4 until 7 pm you can enjoy the Carlsbad Village Musical Kickoff to the Holidays with a special concert at the Choice Juicery, other live music, and cookies and hot chocolate.

Carlsbad residents will no doubt recall the Holiday Window Display contest in Carlsbad Village, sponsored by the Carlsbad Village Association, from past years, with some fabulous displays. Window decorating is in full swing as participating retailers are finished, or perhaps HAVE finished, decorating their display windows. Small Business Saturday will be a great time to see them!

You don't want to miss the public voting online that will take place from November 30th through the 16th for the “People’s Choice Award.” The online ballot with a list of all the participants will be ready on the 30th at the Carlsbad Village Association website.

City Council members will select a second winner, and a group from the Carlsbad Boy’s and Girl’s Club will pick the 3rd winner. Winners will be announced on the Carlsbad Village Association website and in their email newsletter on December 18th.

Hi Jeff - you post prompted a childhood memory.  When I was a child my Dad was a member of a local service organization.  Although I don't remember the details, one such event included holiday window decoarating where my sister and I participated.    I haven't thought about that for a long time.  I hope you enjoy a great Thanksgiving Day celebration.

Hi Jeff Dowler, CRS,

I love this idea!  As a child, the big department store windows in Houston would be all decorated and it was a treat to go on a Sunday and see them.  Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Michael Jacobs

Fuuny you should say that, as it brings back memories for me as well although I never did any window decorating. I love walking around the village when there's time during the holidays to enjoy all the sights and the display windows.

Have a wonderful holiday!

Hi Sheri Sperry - MCNE®

I remember going into Philadelphia to see all the window display, and have visited NYC and Chicago a few times during the holidays. We were in Paris in early December one year and saw some truly amazing window displays.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Good morning Jeff. Way back in the day, too far back to mention specific dates, State Street in downtown Chicago had tremendous window displays. Your post was a great reminder. Enjoy your day!

I don't decorate myself, but I always enjoy seeing the decorations that others have done.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving George Souto  - hope you did as well.

The window displays ARE lots of fun to see - I just have to be careful to not shop too much! LOL.
