Carlsbad Real Estate News and Views: Virtual Art in the Village is Now Live in Carlsbad

Here's the REAL scoop on living in Carlsbad ~ beaches, things to do, places to eat, community events, and of course neighborhoods, homes and the Carlsbad real estate market in general, including surrounding communities like Encinitas, Cardiff, San Marcos, Oceanside, Solana Beach and Del Mar.

Virtual Art in the Village is Now Live in Carlsbad

Carlsbad’s 2020 Virtual Art in the Village is Now Live

Art in the Village has been a popular addition to the street fair tradition in Carlsbad Village for 21 year, with thousands of visitors enjoying the original art work of dozens of local and regional artists.

We attended Art in the Village last year and you can read more about it here - Art Beach Chair Unveiled in Carlsbad Village August 11, 2019.

Jeff in the Carlsbad Art Beach Chair in the Village 2019

The 2020 Art in the Village was originally planned for June 28th but was rescheduled to August 23rd due to the pandemic, but this year’s event was ultimately canceled. But there is an alternative!

Carlsbad created a Virtual Art in the Village online gallery, which is a wonderful way to enjoy the artwork of the 75 or so artists who were signed up to participate in the live event. Viewers can connect with artists whose work they enjoy (contact information is provided), stay in touch with the artists, visit their websites if listed, and shop online on those websites if the option is available. Viewers could perhaps even connect with artists live in their studios if that’s an option.

Art enthusiasts can scroll through all the artists in the Virtual Art in the Village gallery as a group, or refine their search by the type of medium – clay/ceramics, drawing, jewelry, digital art, fiber, mixed media, wood, painting, sculpture, photography, glass, and metal. Viewers will likely see artists they remember from attending Art in the Village in the past, or perhaps whose works they already own, as well as discover new artists they enjoy.

The Virtual Art in the Village online gallery is a wonderful way to continue to offer art work to those who enjoy it from now until the next live event in 2021 (of course we hope that's the case).

The Carlsbad 2020 Virtual Art in the Village gallery is now live – it’s well worth a visit, and during the pandemic these talented artists can use our support!

So many things going virtual these days, Jeff! Here in the Charlotte area, too. Love that picture of you in the big chair.

Love the picture of you in the chair..Neither one of us are fans of virtuality...I am happy to sit back and have it all over with.  A

Hello Jeff - it's nice to see alternatives when things can't be enjoyed "in person".  I hope the reception is well received.

It's a huge chair and I often see people sitting in it (and taking photos) when I have driven by while in the Village. I love the colors, too!

Thanks Nina Hollander  It was fun to see afater it was unveiled and I couldn't miss the photo opp!

Yep lot of virtual stuff here, too. Nice to have in some cases but it's certainly not the same.

Thanks Ron and Alexandra Seigel  This is a chair that begs to have you sit.

I certainly wish we did not have a need for everything virtual...it gets to be a bit much. You could spend your entire life in front of the computer!

Hi Michael Jacobs

My guess is the site will be well received, although it's not like seeing art in person.  I'm glad they put it together for the artists, and viewers.

Morning Jeff.

You sure do looked relaxed in that chair.  On another note I agree with Endre Barath, Jr.

Hi Jeff Dowler, CRS - don't you just look on top of things on that piece of art!

I am seeing similar events with antique shows, but getting the people to visit and buy online has been very hard.

SO nice to see that your area is still welcoming guests to these events in support of local artists, Jeff. Love the giant adirondack chair - and of course, our favorite Carlsbad agent in it!!

Hi Jeff Dowler, CRS, so many things have become virtual and it works for some. I hope this will pass soon. I love the picture of you in the chair!

Thank you Kathy Streib  The Art in the Village event was always popular and while doing this virtually is not the same I think it's a good move for artists, and viewers. I like me in the chair, too!

Hi Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR  Thanks! And I have heard positive feedback about the Virtual Art in the Village!

I get that Endre Barath, Jr.  and I suspect many feel that way, especially these days when so much is virtual.

It's a great chair to sit it James Dray

Jeff Dowler, CRS - You ARE a work of art! If every city had a Virtual Art in the Village, there would more calm, less anxiety, more fun, less stress, more imagination and less boredom!

Good post. I had to see Jeff in that chair!

Thanks Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD  It's a shame the fair has to be virtual but at least people can still enjoy it and buy art, and the artists can benefit.

All is well - fire in San Diego is much more under containment and the air quality is better - not true in so many other areas.

Grant Schneider  Ha ha, I HAD to try it out and memorialize it!

I think it to buy things like art and antiques online Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543  People was to see it in person, and even touch and feel.

So cool that they kept the event alive.  I bet everyone was looking for to that.  Cool chair Jeff!

Thanks Debe Maxwell, CRS  I was thrilled to see what our community has done to continue promoting this art fair. True, not everyone likes virtual, but it is good for the artists and those who take time to look at all the coneraul artwork.

And I was happy to pose...LOL!
