Carlsbad Real Estate News and Views: Carlsbad Area Wedding Venues

Here's the REAL scoop on living in Carlsbad ~ beaches, things to do, places to eat, community events, and of course neighborhoods, homes and the Carlsbad real estate market in general, including surrounding communities like Encinitas, Cardiff, San Marcos, Oceanside, Solana Beach and Del Mar.

Carlsbad Area Wedding Venues

June is traditionally a month for weddings, so it seems appropriate to talk a bit about wedding venues in our lovely town, and in nearby communities.

South Carlsbad state beachI am not a wedding planner, have never planned a wedding (except my own small one years ago), have only attended a few, and know almost nothing about what things one needs to worry about these days in our age of over-consumption and extravagant over-the-top wedding ceremonies and receptions. I do know it takes time, so this information may be better suited to folks planning for later this year, or next June.

So about those places to hold the ceremony…here’s just a sampling:

The Four Seasons Aviara in CarlsbadYou can be a bit more traditional, and extravagant, and get married in the garden at the beautiful Four Seasons Aviara in Carlsbad, with views of the ocean. Or at the famed La Costa Spa and Resort. The new Carlsbad municipal golf course at The Crossings, with expansive views of the countryside, could be more to your liking.

Another unique wedding venue in Carlsbad is the Leo Carrillo Historic Ranch, in the heart of the Rancho Carrillo community.

Those seeking perhaps a more romantic and even less traditional setting could tie the knot in bare feet on the beach in Carlsbad – there are many to choose from, but check with the town to make sure what you can and cannot do. Setting sun, sand and the beautiful ocean beyond would be THE ideal place.

Moonlight Beach in EncinitasAnother popular beach setting for weddings is Moonlight Beach and several of the viewpoints in Encinitas – no alcohol – but the setting is wonderful, and like Carlsbad State Beach is easily accessed (some Encinitas and Carlsbad beaches require a climb down stairs, which may not the best thing for weddings). Call 760-633-2740 in Encinitas for permits.

In Encinitas the popular Quail Botanical Gardens has a private setting perfect for weddings amidst their beautiful gardens.

In San Marcos there are frequent weddings in the town center's park in San Elijo Hills.

Another beach setting that is popular is Seagrove Park in Del Mar. And for a spectacular oceanfront venue with amazing views (but you need to do a bit of hiking and no food or alcohol), consider the Torrey Pines State Reserve. Call 619-688-3385 for a special event permit.

Village center at San Elijo Hills in San MarcosThe gazebo at the entrance to the Oceanside Harbor is also a popular wedding venue.

If you live in one of the planned communities in Carlsbad with a private residents' club (e.g., Bressi Ranch, La Costa Greens, La Costa Valley), those facilities typically can be rented for special events such as weddings, too.

So it seems your options for wedding venues are limited only by your imagination, budget, wedding size, and of course what is permitted by the individual towns.

Stay tuned for some vendors to know about in the Carlsbad area for your wedding.

Seems like the coastal states are popular wedding destinations.

Wedding packages for ceramonies barefoot in the sand are popular.

Jeff my son is getting married in six months, and I can not believe what some of the places around here include in there packages.

Now all I have to do is get over the PRICE SHOCK ........... LOL

Lenn - yep. There were plenty of on-the-beach weddings when I lived in Boston and on Cape Cod.

George - the prices are pretty high, aren't there? Think of it like college tuition. :)

Hi Jeff, I also am not wedding planner but there sure are enough out there. The costs today are beyond belief. I think the beach idea is cool. One of my clients just got married in Hawaii on the beach and said it was the best of each of their three. maybe there is something to that. KISS at a weeding is always appropriate. :-)

William - so true. I read about a wedding the other day that cost over 1million (not in our area, mind you), and even weddings over $100K are not that uncommon. Your last comment is a good pun...intended.

Not all coastal areasites are financially out of reach.  We pride ourselves on providing continuing great value in a tough economy.  And our wedding venue is as good as it gets..even offering an included boat entrance to the bride.  If you'd like more details or feedback, just let me know.

Los Willows looks like a beautilful venue. While it's not the beach, it would be a terrific wedding site.
