ALERT ALERT ALERT
Geez it sounds like I am announcing the apocalypse.
There has been talk of THE BIG ONE for years, and folks are getting serious about it here in California. And with good reason.
Tomorrow, at 10 AM about 5 million Southern Californians (and anyone else who wants to take part) will practice for The Big One.
The Great ShakeOut, as it is being called, is a real life practice for the big earthquake that has been predicted for Southern California for years. This will be the LARGEST disaster simulation in the country. What makes it different, and more beneficial, is that it will involve so many people in real life - at home, at work, in the schools - and not just the professionals who are practicing to aid those in case of such as a disaster. Radio and TV stations will broadcast loud rumbling to help in the simulation
So put it on your calendar, in your Palm, on Outlook, on your cell phone, and get ready to shake at 10 AM Pacific Standard Time
AND SPREAD THE WORD

Here's another good article about preparing for the big one.

I remember being in a hotel room in San Diego a few years ago - - on the 18th floor - - and seeing the towels swaying back and forth suddenly. Very uneasy feeling when I realized why the towels were swaying!
It made me nervous just thinking about the simulation. I hope everyone will be prepared.
This is the first I heard of this, Thanks for the heads up.
That is why I live in areas that are not prone to eathquakes! Ouch! In Georgia we only deal wiht drought, and an occasional tornado! Wedon't even get snow here much!
Thats a way to Shake things up!
Not a bad idea! It's like every part of the country has something. You have eatthquakes, growing up in Kansas it was tornados. They have terrorist attack simulations here, but they haven't involved the public in their drills. It would be total bedlam.
That sounds very scary, but indeed necessary. Guess it's better to have the "been there, done that" feeling with the real shake up occurs. I hope it doesn't.

Jeff, how did the drill go today, and did as many people participate as expected. I am curious to know.
ALL:
Well it was pretty interesting and millions participated. What is so impressive is that the general public was involved, not just disaster relief folks which is usually the case.
Here's the follow-up story
Jeff
Jeff... wow... I didn't know about this... I guess I will be watching the news. Thanks for sharing this..
