Carlsbad Real Estate News and Views: "Cater Joe's," I mean Trader Joe's, is Coming to Carlsbad SOON!

Here's the REAL scoop on living in Carlsbad ~ beaches, things to do, places to eat, community events, and of course neighborhoods, homes and the Carlsbad real estate market in general, including surrounding communities like Encinitas, Cardiff, San Marcos, Oceanside, Solana Beach and Del Mar.

"Cater Joe's," I mean Trader Joe's, is Coming to Carlsbad SOON!

Construction at Bressi Village Shopping Center in Bressi Ranch, CarlsbadThe new Trader Joe's will be opening in Carlsbad on or about February 19th. The opening of this popular store has been much anticipated by area residents, probably mostly by those living in Bressi Ranch, the location of this and other stores, including a Stater's Brothers and the Rubio's restaurant chain. As folks in the area know, Bressi Ranch is a recently built and popular master planned community just north of La Costa.

Just a small aside - when my wife and I owned our art gallery in Cambridge, MA for 2 years we used to have 5-6 new art exhibits per year, with an opening reception. We always bought the wine, cheese and other prepared and packaged goodies from Trader Joe's hence the name Cater Joe's. Other friends referred to it similarly, and with good reason.

Cater Joe's, I mean Trader Joe's and the other stores will be located in Bressi Village Shopping Center, within walking distance of some of the stores and corporate offices that have also been built. As the first Trader Joe's in Carlsbad (the next closest is in Encinitas), I would expect this to be very popular - I know I will be a happy, and frequent, customer.

Salemites have been complaining to Trader Joes to come here for about 10 years.  I hear that they are finally almost starting to possibly think about opening a store here...Sigh...such a long wait.

Jeff, I'd heard of Trader Joe's but have never been to one.  I just clicked on their link (thank you) and see that they do have them in New York but I guess not in the city, because in 30 years there I never saw one.

I am adding Trader Joe's to the mental list of places to visit if I ever come across one.  Quality grocery stores are a favorite of mine.  I always shop at Publix locally.  Their quality is beyond reproach, everything is kept sparkling clean and most stores are set up the same, so even on vacation I can feel at home in Publix.

Melina - that IS a long time. THey are a favorite of mine...sounds like for you two. Hope it moves ahead.

Maggie - it is well worth the visit. They are not the best plac to do all your grocery shopping since they can be kinda expensive. BUtI especially liked prepared foods, the fish counter (some are smaller and have only packaged fish) adn they get some really cool packages products. Pretty upscale. I have been in Publix a number of times when traveling - I recall them being as you say.

We have a Trader Joe's locally and they are great! There is always outstanding selection and the prices are very reasonable. Nice work featuring a coming local attraction.

I agree, Trader Joes is such a wonderful store. I actually find that they are LESS expensive than the large chain grocery stores. They do not carry everything you might buy (such as coffee mate creamer, certain brands of cereals, etc.) but they carry a wonderful selection of gourmet foods and drinks at wonderfully low prices and the staff are usually so helpful and friendly. ENJOY "Cater Joes"!
