I am a big fan of art, as folks who know me can attest. AND a big fan of The Andrews Gallery in Leucadia, the newest, and brightest, addition to the art scene in North San Diego County. My opinion. But I think others agree. And it's right next to Carlsbad.
The Andrews Gallery opened, with quite a bit of fanfare, last October 2008 (here's my post from the opening reception).
Drew Snyder, curator, owner, and artist, continues to bring excitement and vision to the art community in North County, and the latest show (I missed the opening reception, being out of town) featuring never-before-seen collage works by Susan Snyder, is a visual treat.
A well-known and established artist for years, Snyder uses bright colors, intriguing images, and even 200-year-old paint chips from her home in Mexico to create a visual, and playful, experience incorporating Mexican imagery unlike anything I have seen before. This show is absolutely worth a visit for any art lover.
I also had the opportunity to view some of Drew's new work in progress and he takes off in a somewhat new direction, without losing the style and the vocabulary that is his. Alas, my photos did not turn out well, and do not do justice to this new work, so you will just have to stop by in person which is always better.
I continue to be so impressed with what Drew Snyder is creating at The Andrews Gallery. Having been a gallery owner myself, and understanding the vision, time, energy and creativity it takes to continually challenge, and step outside the mundane and the predictable, I appreciate even more Drew's ambitious and varied exhibits that showcase artists who are emerging and established, local and national. What will the future bring at The Andrews Gallery? Time will tell, but you can bet it will not be mainstream, boring, or lacking in talent. And it will not disappoint.

Very cool. And I love the reds. It seems to be the hottest color among artists now. I'm seeing lots and lots of reds.
Hi Jeff, I love all your great posts that help support so many business in your area. Great job and I hope one day in the not to distant future to visit this gallery. I am equally impressed with Drew's works. I love the style as well as the intense use of color.
Hi Jeff - Looks like a great gallery. Thanks for the tip on this one. I hope I can get by and take a peek on my own one day soon.
Great 'localism' post as always. I too love the reds... passion, going down in flames, hot, etc., etc. Evokes my kind of energy and I'm sure the artist's as well.
Lisa - I love the read too. We have a couple of paintings that incorporate lots of red. The photo does NOT do this painting justice.
William - it would be worth your visit. And Drew is lots of fun to talk to. I really like what he has to say about what he is trying to accomplish.
Marlene - let me know when you stop by - we'll do lunch.
Susie - definitely. Thanks for popping by.
Jeff
I think you did a great job with your photos despite your comment otherwise. Such vibrant colors! Art is so personal but I love his work from what I can see. As always, another wonderful post about your community. I live vicariously there through your beautiful posts!
Jeff I enjoyed the video, but my taste in art is sort of like my mind simple and traditional ........... LOL
